At their very best JC was a terror at 140 and Pryor was a human windmill throwing punches and absorbing punishment. Does Pryor walk through Chavez like he did Arguello? or does Chavez exploit the rushes and cut him to ribbons? this to me is a very intriguing fight.

The best Chavez at 140 by UD or late stoppage. Chavez has the tighter technique, at least equal power, at least equal chin and matches him for stamina. The difference here is the vaunted Chavez body attack. Pryor won't be shucking and jiving in the late rounds in this one, black bottle or no black bottle.

Chavez via decision his chin was better, Pryor although rarely hurt could be knocked down due to his sometimes wild style this could be bad if it went to the judges. Also Chavez was a better inside fighter were I see a lot of the fight taking place.

Pryor by decision. Like Ali, peak Pryor was a freak of nature who body punishment was simply not effective at slowing down. Arguello's pinpoint head and body shots failed to hinder Aaron much. The Hawk at his pinnacle altitude may have been impervious. With his adrenaline pumping, the best way to decision him would have been with the defensive skills of a Whitaker, Locche, or Benitez. Pryor was a headhunter with an exposed chin. Make him miss, and make him pay. I don't think Chavez would have made him miss enough to take a decision, and I expect Pryor would be moving around more, rather than swarming.

JC walks him down in the late rds after weathering all out assault from Pryor early. Chavez is the more disciplined fighter and this makes the difference as the fight progresses. Pryor gets wild in desperation to swing the fight his way and lunges into several hard shots resulting in knockdowns. Panama Lewis is complaining of low blows and Pryor actually takes a knee to slow the inevitable outcome. Julio wins UD.

Comparing Chavez to Arguello I see Chavez as a little stonger, quicker hands, better defensively and more relaxed. I think Arguello went for the bomb too much whereas Chavez could hit Pryor more consistently.

If Pryor wins it will be because of his movement. I think Chavez tears him up on the inside which to me makes the straight right from the outside the key punch for Chavez. I like Chavez' straight right better than Arguello's. Though not as hard, it's quicker more consistent and sneakier.

If Chavez lands enough straight rights from the outside to keep Pryor honest, I think he wins.

Styles make fights. Chavez may have had trouble with fleet slick boxers who would rather run than fight. But Pryor would be right in front of him. Two iron chins against eachother. Pryor might be slightly faster, but Chavez' blows would be more pinpoint. Possible early knockdown & Chavez body attack would give him the slight edge in a decision win over fifteen rounds.
