What do you guys think, it doesn't have to be UFC or even top 10 fighter. I just want to know what you think was the best MMA fight you have ever seen.
My personal favorite was Phil baroni vs Frank shamrock, a better one does not come to mind as far as excitement goes.

Showed the true heart of Tanner. Terrell in his prime (and it was like 6 months long) was a wicked, dangerous fighter

That fight is so overrated! It wasn't even a good display of "MMA" because all they did was box.

Ive always ranked Wanderlei vs Rampage II the best although Miguel Torres recent fights vs Mizugaki and Maeda deserve some mentions.

Lots of great fights being mentioned here. I always have a hard time choosing just one as my favorite - but there are certain fights that I enjoy more than others over the years.
I like GSP vs Penn 1 because Penn really brought out the best in GSP. The fight wasn't an all out brawl - but it was a great display of mixed martial arts with both men doing everything in the book - but GSP did just that little bit more to secure the win.
And my all time personal favorite has to be Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock. Le put some of the sweetest kicking combinations on Shamrock that I've seen in MMA. Le doesn't have the one kick destructive power of a Crocop or the speed and power of a Manhoef - but he attacks smoothly with kicking and punching combinations from all angles.

It;s just too bad that Cung went into movies for the past year. Whenever he comes back to MMA he's going to be rusty as hell. Making movies is always the kiss of death for fighters.

Exactly. It's not like Gatti/Ward was a display of skilled pugulism. Blood and guts battles are always entertaining - as with the aforementioned Frye/Takayama fight.

Well no, I was gonna get into the fact that they boxed basically bare knuckle for 15 minutes, landing alot and none of the shots were especially damaging :deal Jardine showed us what happens when Griffin gets hit clean with a "real" punch, Rampage dropped him too. Bonner hit him with 2,000 pitty patty punches and didn't rock him once.

That fight was nothing like Gatti / Ward!!!!!!!!!!
Gatti and Ward may not be "elite" technicians but they were very successful in their careers as "professional boxers" and the skill, power and heart they showed in their 3 fights cannot be compared to 15 minutes of Griffin / Bonner. :deal
I really enjoyed the Scott Smith Vs. Benji Radach fight a few weeks back.
I don't think I could pick just one "greatest" MMA fight.

Every Scott Smith fight now seem to be just fuckin amazing. Since his borring fight with Cote
Smith is that kid that isn't afraid of getting hit and can be hurt, but also has the power to kill people with one punch. THAT makes for an exciting fighter.

Yeah Cote has some good fights under his belt. I think a lot of guys are afraid too get caught in a brawl with Cote because if you don'[t get him he will get you and the fight is potentially over.

This thread shoulda never made 3 pgs sans Diaz vs Gomi.
I also found Condit vs. Miura pretty entertaining.
Sell vs. Smith was pretty good, too.
I also liked Hicks vs. Varner for the sheer determination and jaw that Hicks showed in an ultimately losing effort.

alvarez vs hansen was a hell of a fight
Absolutely. 2 guys who truly love to fight. The class and mutual respect they showed after the fight highlighted MMA at it's best.
After the fight, Alverez couldn't continue in the tournament and Hansen took his spot. Hansen won the tournament while Alvarez cheered him on, and Hansen offered him an immediate rematch for the title.
