Herbie Hide is set to fight the winner of Giacobbe Fragomeni and Krysztof Wlodarczyk for the WBC cruiserweight world title on June 26th, a week after the Haye fight.

Can Hide do it?

Doesn't he have an eliminator first with Matt Godfrey?

I reckon he doesn't fancy going up against Godfrey, but at the same time I wouldn't pick him as favourite against either of these guys either. Fragomeni is someone he'd have trouble with too I think. Frag has a good chin and Herbie won't just be able to blast him out in 3 rounds like the other bums he's been fighting.

I think he's damaged goods really, and he's just about getting away with getting a bit of a career going at cruiserweight coz he's been matched cautiously. Once he comes up against someone approaching world class I think he gets knocked out. I don't trust Herbie to win a 12 round decision over anyone competent, not today, so if he fights someone who he can't just knock out in the first couple of rounds then he will lose.

Nope, Hide's past it I'm afraid. He wasted his best years out of his depth in the heavyweights.

I suppose Hide might give some guys a few problems with his speed and power. But with a chin like his he won't last too long I think.

He wasn't going to get 2 million guaranteed english pounds fighting cruiserweights in 1995.

I wouldnt call winning a heavyweight title being out of his depth. Yes, he certainly wasnt on Bowe or Vitalis level, but the boy done good for a crusier with no chin.

Better read that article again, it says he'll fight an opponent TBA on that date with the winner to get a WBC title shot later this year.:deal

Hide has good alround ability, and can smartly win a belt imo.. he has to fight a smart fight tho.. know his limitations..

Hide is much better fighter than Haye. Haye has been running from Hide for a long time now. Vitali Klitschko sure put the hurts on Hide and Vitali was a 5-1 underdog! However, Haye knows better than to fight Hide. Hide was very fast, hit very hard, was too small at heavyweight, probably not at cruiserweight, "if" he has not gone down hill too much he could very well be a world champion again, at cruiserweight.

Yeah he built his own mansion in Norwich. I read he filed for bankruptcy just a few years later. Surely that was rubbish.

Frag and the Pole are pretty poor so Hide has a great chance to win the belt. Pretty poor division really.

Hide has looked really rusty in his last few fights and hasnt managed to ko anyone recently. Be interesting to see how it pans out.

We will soon find out. I have not seen him fight lately, but he used to have lots of speed and good power. He was to small for fighters like Bowe and Vitali.
