Simple...because, when you are at an obvious physical disadvantage, you go to what your advantages are (speed, counter punching ability, defense), you dont stand and rough it out with the bigger, stronger, harder puncher. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!!

Its like the people who call Whitaker a runner (tho Calderon aint no Sweet Pea, but you get what I mean), when he regularly threw 100+ a round....always seemed to mix it up when needed....and worked exclusively off his amazing jab.

Ask yourself something....if Sweet Pea fought like Mike Tyson, with his size and power disadvantages.....would we even know his name?

Its called fighting to your strengths and its smart boxing...not running.

most ridiculous thing I've ever heard considering he situation and the match up for Calderon. Calderon steps up and fights a hard opponent..gives him a clinic and then you get people who bitch and moan about how he fought? I'm not accusing people in particular but there are people running around crying about this. Its sad.

Calderon boxed the way a little man fighting a much bigger man would...but he did not run...Cazares just wasn't able to connect cleanly for most of the fight...he would lateral around cazares and used great head movement.

The holding is worse than the running.

why is it considered running everytime a fighter shows good speed, footwork and ring generalship?

Yes he ran. :patsch

Against a guy who was 20 pounds heavier, the king of his division and with knockout power in both hands.

You people are foolish.

He definitely should have stood toe to toe with him. I mean Ivan is such a power punching force with slow hands, slow feet and bad counter punching. He most certainly should have just bulled his way in and swung for the fences.
