So I was real close to fighting someone today, and I had a weird feeling in my knees and legs in general. Felt real stiff(leave the puns). Was it just nervousness, anxiety? Anyone ever had that?
I used to have butterflies in my stomach, sweaty palms or tight throat in altercations but not weak knees... thats fucked up cause it would actually constrict me fighting.

Maybe it's that fight or flight reaction telling you to get the fuck outta there? I don't know.

Youre not a pussy man. Nervousness manifests itself in lots of different ways. Grievsy makes a good point about the fight or flight. Try focusing on your belly breathing slowly and as relaxed as you can as fear tends to tie the stomach in knots. Also keep in mind that you're not the only one experiencing fear

Were you attracted to the guy at all?

Unfortunately for you ufoalf, that was pretty funny.
On a serious note it is probably just nerves. Did you think you where gonna get your ass beat? Maybe your instincts were to flee but you are too stubborn to listen so your body started acting weird? Who knows, you should go out and beat someone up smaller then you to gain your confidence back.

Well, it wasn't that I thought i was gona get my ass beat it was that respect of a lot of people would hang on me beating the shit out of him. It never got anywhere, as much as I wanted to clock him I can take a lot of shit talking from someone I don't know at all. All he did is run his mouth, acting tough, I was waiting for him to make a move so I can "defend" myself .

If you are truely rough and tough you would have bitten his head off before it even escalated to a potential fight :verysad.
But seriously it is a normal response that many people have. Most people don't fight its not like the movies and when it is a fight it is usually a reaction timing were the starter of said fight gets fucked up while the other person runs away after breaking a nose. At least from what i notice it is.
What was the situation that was about to cause a fight?

I'm not rough and tough. I don't need to be. I'd rather avoid a fight(not being cocky but bad things happen to people when I'm angry).
Not to go too much into detail the situation started out of nothing(me telling him to calm down), it WAS about nothing other than the guy literally looking for a fight or trying to prove something to himself(Napoleon complex? dunno). It definitely caught me off guard. I also made a mistake letting him square up to me chest to chest instead of keeping some distance(prolly cause I was off guard). To top it off I might have legal issues to worry about if I was to batter him without him actually attempting a swing. So I was very wary of initiating because I wouldn't be able to prove his assault beyond reasonable doubt.
Bottom line, I over analyzed the situation instead of just reacting.

Renzo suggests always shouting "Ow he hit me" before fighting, whether you swing first or him.

No. You just haven't been in enough scraps to adjust to the sudden influx of ass-kickery. i'm not gonna call it testosterone b/c that can also fuel your flight reflex, which is why I think that makes sense.
Society has indoctrinated you to embrace the flight reflex, yet your mind will embrace the fight reflex, despite whatever pacifism you embrace, so you reach a stalemate of sorts where you want to square up and run at the same time.
I guarantee if you see that first punch coming, you're going to decide one way or the other and you'll know whether you're a pussy or not.

Sounds as though you did right in the situation. Remember even with stiff knees nobody is going to sit there and let somebody beat up on them. Your human reaction probably would have broken through the stiff knees problem.
