This fight should have happened but never did in 1972 ? Who wins this one?

...too many unpredictables for me to vote on the outcome.

but....if nick had raced out of his corner and smacked the taller stevenson one of his bombs, he would have knocked him all the way back to cuba..

..but..stevenson was a good classic stand up boxer/puncher and nick tended to fade early.....so.....hell,,,i don't know....

depends on when the fight took place...T.S. because a professional amatuer but Nick had a southpaw style and had a weird arsenal, Nick could stop Teo

the 1972 olympic games as specified in the title is when the fight was supposed to take place.

I will try to ask Doug Lord (Curtis Cokes' Mgr) here in Dallas and see what he thinks.....he knew a lot about amateurs back then.

Stevenson. He really did fight tall and fired off a nasty straight right hand. He was a guy that was not all that easy to close the gap on and he could fight very well backing up.

But that timeframe was very tough and there's been nothing like it since. If a guy showed up with his B game, he could easily get licked. And Nobody is going to go undefeated in that 70-80 timeframe.

don't know enough about Wells,in 72 he was in Duane Bobick's shadow, yet Wells had an outstanding amatuer career.I will go with this,Soviet Igor Vysotsky beat Stevenson twice, once by ko.Certainly Wells was capable of a Knockout.Decision would be harder to come by.

Pretty much what DocDevil said.Take out the Igor Vysotsky factor, and I would go with Teo blindly. However, Jimmy Clark gave him fits in 3 different fights, and I believe Page would've beaten him if they fought in '78. Nick Wells definitely had a chance, at that point in time.
