I travelled down the coast today to the Nerang PCYC. I watched Nathan and Bob go through 5 or 6 tough, fast paced rounds.

Nasty Boy has slimmed down (about 107kg at the moment) and is looking pretty damn sharp in my opinion. His foot speed is perhaps the best I've seen it. He looked pretty fluent in his movement and is definitely in good shape for the "Hoppa Stoppa" next Friday, although Fitz is a tough customer.

Personally I can't see him having any trouble with him. After that he's facing Alex Leapai for the OPBF title and a WBC ranking.

Nath is a decent fighter, he has talent and very good offensive abilities.
But the combination of his chin and poor D let him down, he seems to freeze up when he gets caught and then proceeds to get caught by bigger and bigger shots.

His defence has improved out of sight under his new trainer. Parrying punches a lot better and his jab will give many heavies trouble...

I wonder what you guys make out of Nathan vs Les.?

As in Les Mason? Hope you're joking.

I have heard that these two aren't real fond of each other either. Would have been great to watch up close and personal.

Can't speak on what it might have been like in the past, as I'm not aware, but there was nothing but decent sportsmanship between the two. Bob's doing Nathan a favour by coming up and helping him prepare.

So who was winning the spar?

Well neither were looking to win so to speak, more get some good hard preparation in. By his own admission, Bob is not in peak shape, while Nathan is fighting next week. Briggsy looked very sharp, trust me.

Right...Briggs should win both fights...if he comes ready.

Both are pretty hard though.

Much better than their records suggest and a lot harder than what Nath has been facing lately.
