NO DOUBT!!! Not only will be "MOST LIKELY" made mad fun of, but it seems it would be quite the distraction with all the big fights that we all want to be made. FFS!!:nut

wrong, every fight is important in the career of a fighter. no real champion would take any opponent lightly. the whole dancing with stars thing is not even important. hatton blows up between fights to almost 180lbs floyd has remained disciplined throughout his career. I don't see doing extra cardio as a problem for him.

I agree, every fight is important however I feel this upcoming fight against Hatton is his most important to date. The extra cardio is not what i am worried about, its his focus. I hope he pulls it off and becomes a legend.

Hatton does NOT blow up anymore. He learned his lesson after Urango, and I think the closeness in time between his fights with Castillo and PBF is really going to help him.

I agree with your post, and regardless if Hatton blows up between fights, theres no doubt that he is training like theres no tomorrow for this fight, and he will be bringing his game come fight night.

which guy is gonna be Floyds dancing parter.

Possibly an old Hatton victim, Kostya Tszyu, a great dancer evidently. PBF should face Hatton first and then dance with Tszyu if he loses and decides to retire too.

After both PBF and Tszyu have brushed up on their footwork, thanks to their dancing, then they should think of making a comeback. :happy

I hope your right but he looked about 165 in his last uk interview. The way I see it hatton has decided for 1 fight to not go on a drinking binge, floyd doesn't drink and for good reason ( throughout his entire career). I want hatton prepared to fight and ready to go but my gut tells me if floyd will train like the devil for brusselles then hatton has no chance even with the added hours of dance practice.

I think that Mayweather being on the show could be good for boxing.
How often are boxers of Mayweather on network TV? Not tht often and usualy because they did something bad. Mayweather will have the chance to be on network tv and not because he did something wrong.
I think it is a win win situation.

If Holyfield already didn't bring em in, I doubt Mayweather will attract many to make a difference. I'm not trying to rag on him, Im just going by the people I know or seen who watch that show. Can't think of a single guy who does.

As I mentioned before, I don't see how PBF will be able to get close enough to his partner to be able to last past the first round of the competition. In encounters where physical contact is required beyond occasional potshots, PBF has demonstrated a lack of ability.

Unless his partner is under 140. Then there COULD be a chance for PBF to step into and remain in the 'pocket.'

Note to DWTS producers: Use a short, petite girl; you're less likely to scare PBF that way.

Damn, that's all you haters got...? I expected more from you guys, step your game up...

Anyways, to say only old women watch the show is nonsense, what do you think their husbands are doing in the meantime? This is one of the most watched shows in the US, not only will a lot of people watch the thing, it will be talked about on "talkshows", "sport shows" etc.

I only know about Emmitt Smith because he was on there, and I live in Europe...

I think holyfield and larry holmes did it also, but jerry rice looked too gay the way he was dancing, maybe it's from being in san fran all those years, all i gotta say is u gotto be real confident to do dancing with the star's,like i said before,i think hatton and mosley should spar, because it'll work in both guy's favor, especially if hatton could keep up with mosley.

Floyd talking about the show in this article from boxing scene

WBC welterweight champ Floyd Mayweather ([Only registered and activated users can see links]***********.com/?m=show&id=10093#) Jr. has made his first public comments about the biggest challenge of his career, and it has nothing to do with boxing. Mayweather, was revealed on Monday as being one of the contestants for the next season of ABC's popular reality program "Dancing with The Stars."
Mayweather, in a recent interview with David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press , said he practiced ballroom dancing with his partner Karina Smirnoff last Sunday and found it a lot harder than he anticipated. The show, one of the most popular on television, will certainly make him a much bigger household name.
"To be honest, when I first did it, I wanted to quit, But I'm a true champion, and true champions don't quit," Mayweather said. "It's an unreal, unbelievable opportunity. It's a new test, and I've got a lot to learn. It's a true test. But I think I can learn it."
The paper reports that the show's first telecast is Sept. 24 the final is Nov. 24, which is two weeks before his Dec. 8 pay-per-view showdown with Ricky Hatton ([Only registered and activated users can see links]***********.com/?m=show&id=10093#) at the MGM Grand is Las Vegas.
Critics are already pouncing on Mayweather for particpating in the reality show while training for a major fight like Hatton at the same time. Mayweather feels the ballroom dancing will help him with his balance in the ring. He further said that he's more worried about his dancing abilities on the show than the actual fight with Hatton, someone that he doesn't view as a problem.
"I think the dancing will help me for my boxing ([Only registered and activated users can see links]***********.com/?m=show&id=10093#), to be honest," Mayweather said. "I think it will help me with my balance. I already have great balance, but this is a different kind of balance. The fight, I'm not really worried about. I know I can handle that. You don't just have 38 fights, and 38 good nights, by chance. I know what I'm doing, as far as the fight."
"I can dance, but this is different from hip-hop dancing. Your hands have got to be turned a certain way, your legs have got to be turned a certain way. It's like boxing, sort of. A lot of things are like boxing, like how you turn off the pivot. I'll be good at it, but I won't be great. It takes 15, 20 years to be great."

Floyd will win this fight easy ,but the dancing we will have to see :yep

I don't think this will have the affect on him ppl think, and some ppl hope it will! Actually after stopping Hatton it will further prove is #1 P4P status!! Floyd's a determinded, strong willed person, and he will be at his best fight night. I'm not sure if the brotha can dance, but hey...he's doing something he wants, and it definately will be harder than Boxing itself!!

Interesting, I don't think I have never heard any rapper say those words.

Mayweather is trying to become more of a star and all to the mainstream, but I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe do it BETWEEN fights, before a training camp starts, not when you're supposed to be training for a fight.

Yeah as a major fan of Floyd, this is a little disturbing. I understand that its a GREAT way for him to reach mainstream america AND promote his fight (dont forget about good old promotion folks) to a new audience.

In actuality, this could be good for boxing as a whole, but I dont feel that its such a good thing for Floyd's bout with Ricky.

I dont think he will b underestimating Hatton, he is a fulltime boxer not like he has to work and g2 school etc. He can do dance practice:yep, and train later on. Floyd usually trains at night so this wont b 2 much of a problem. And I dont think Floyd is going to win, so he should b off the show rather early.
I think this can do wonders for him as a mainstream celeb. If he acts civilized, and " turn on the charm" it can help with his image in the eyes of mainstream america
