What about those guys Joe???? What is it you'd like to say about them??????
So Bobby's off fighting in the USA... avoiding the locals and having a legitimate shot at it, rather than fighting on the RSL circuit. Get over it mate.
Hoppa's off facing McCall for the IBA diadem...
Is Bobby an impersonater for not making his way through the eternally mediocre Aust. H/W scene????
Who knows, he might even fight in Australia in his next bout.
Whats the big deal???

nothing new phil i guess i should have just hung em up after digger fight and quit, because james toney, bernard hopkins, joe bugner, alexis arguello etc.. were perfect from their first fight and didnt need time to learn and improve their game.

With the general state of Aussie boxing we need to encourage at every opportunity, not knock.
I remember Greg Norman saying the biggest difference between the USA and Aust is the tall poppy syndome that exists over here - he said that in the States if you acheive something people congratulate you whereas over here they just bag you.

Yep.. cant agrue with that. So, what negative steps is he taking???
Being in the mix of others with the same direction, Mark has allowed himself to 'get caught out' as a pretender. Atleast he's doing it on the better level.
Jimmy Thunder was reduced to a 'wanna be' after Mike Hunter 'slept' him. Jimmy went on to far better things. Do you think Mark has to take the same avenues?? Should he fight a guy who trains on 'pre fight beers'?????
Peden had a great Am carerr to work off, and a signed up crew to work with. Give Mark some credit mate, he's making the most out of little, rather than little out of the most.
3 or 4 nice wins will allow him some serious cash. Hopefully he's inline for some huge cash already. Fighting on the Vic undercard says he is.
So, back to the initial question... what about these other 'big name' Aussie's???

This comment is a total piss take.
Australian Heavywieght Boxing Rankings.
The 2 links here offer seprate rankings 9 days apart both compiled by John Hogg.
Both rankings look nothing alike and struggle to include 10 heavywieghts with double figure bouts.
Top 20 Australian heavywieghts....name them Joe???

C'mon mate get fairdinkum.
Your quoting the top 20 Aussie heavywieghts from BoxRec makes my point for me.
11 through to 20 with the exception of Fortune have an average of 3 fights amongst them with no.20 having 4 fights for 4 losses.
2 in the top 10 have had less than 10 fights and 2 maybe 3 also there could be best described as journeyman at this stage of thier careers.
You need to own up if your taking the piss....

There is a resounding theme to this thread Joe, congratualations to Mark and good luck.
There is also another theme here, more an annoying noise, and that is you!
How do you think Mark would perform aginst the top 10 BoxRec Aussie Heavy Weights...time to back up your dribble.

Joe.... Whats your point???? Is Mark doing the wrong thing by going to the USA?? Has that pissed you off???
He's taking an early gamble, with hope it pays off. Good luck to him. If it doesn't work out as he'd like, he'll come home with great experience.

05-13-2009, 09:46 PM
Tua is fighting Shane cameron in NZ Oct 3rd.....thats 5 months away. I have seen you fight Mark, and you remind me at times of Tommy Morrison.I think you fight well within yourself, and a fight with Tua may well be on the horizon.
Some of us over in NZ were hoping Tua would take a fight before October and to see you on the card would have been cool.If you were saying Tuas camp were reluctant to fight you in march, then i think you may be unaware of some relevent facts, mainly that he was negotiating to fight Cameron in march, then in june and now its on in Oct.... fighting against Tua is not the wisest idea for any contender unless you can box and remain mobile and have a sound jaw.
No matter what happens Mark,i wish you the very best for you in your career.
You have a WBC ranking of 20, and you will be tested by many who want to steal your seat.Thats the best way to find a fight that i can think of.

Good to see you putting your hand up Mark. I guess we never get to see how the decisions are made, but i know Tua turned down fighting Cameron 18 months ago.....now the purse has almost tripled since then so was a wise chice to wait from what i can make of it.
I will start mentioning your name on a few sites to get this fight happening. Worth a shot aint it?. Tua isnt having a warm up fight pre-cameron so who knows what is going on all the same. cheers for taking the time to talk with me Mark and i truly hope you get all the opportunities to make it to the top of the mountain you are climbing.:thumbsup
