the_what, what has happened to your fight predicting skills?
Holt is going win that fight.....either by UD or Knockout.
Torres is way to slow of foot and his head don't move for shit.
Holt may is way too slick for him and can crack himself.
Torres has shown nothing at the top level and Holt will pepper him.

for Cotto's sake he better. If holt wins this fight then his cries about Cotto ducking him and his people knowing that he would have been Cotto's toughest fight will start to seem more true. however Cotto fighting Judah and now Shane has keep cotto from being bashed.

My money is on Holt, he's the better boxer.

Tough fight to pick
you have to agree though that Torres is fighting this fight in Columbia so Holt will need a KO to win the fight.
Do you think Holt is good enough to get the KO over there.
Im leaning towards Torres because Holt can be caught bad sometimes i still have vivid memories of the Thomas Davis fight.

That's what I was thinking. :thumbsup

Plus, Holt is the only man to have defeated the almighty David Diaz too! via 8th round TKO. :hey

That is how I see it. For someone as stiff as Torres, Holt is a very difficult landscape to paint a puncher's masterpiece.
Off topic, and I may be completely off base, but have you just recently watched Man on Fire? What you just said reminded me a lot of a line Christopher Walken makes about Denzel's character in the movie...
But anyway, back on topic....
I am so tired of this STUPID ducking talk. Just because people don't fight has nothing to do with ducking. Sheesh fights don't come off for all kinds of reasons.
Agreed. Why would Cotto duck Holt to go up and take on Judah and Mosley? Pretty dumb move as far as easy fights are concerned. Anyway, I am picking Holt to outbox Torres. Torres was a bad match up for Cotto style wise, and Cotto fought a bad fight to top it all off. He has power, and Holt is slighty chinny, but I don't think it should be a factor.
If Holt doesn't get caught with anything big and he really outboxes Torres for about nine out of the twelve rounds, then he will win. He's obviously the better boxer and has major stylistic advantages, but his chin is horrible and he is in a match with 3 Columbian judges. I predict that Holt will get knocked down once or twice, but outbox Torres for 12 rounds and lose because of a semi-robbery decision.
No....it is a very common metaphor. For example Lampley once said in the Mosley-Taylor fight, "Shane must have looked at Taylor and saw a canvas for which to paint a puncher's masterpiece".
This metaphor has been used in some variation many times.
Great fight that one for Mosley. Shanes right hand at the end of the first was absolutely massive.

holt is way to talented to let torres win. but there are more deciding factors then talent at play:deal I predict holt by tko but I wouldn't be surprised if torres got the nod if it went to the cards.

Holt will win a decision
I could be wrong but I highly doubt there are 3 columbian judges. This is a sactioned championship fight and even they wouldn't allow that. I suspect that there will be one columbian or at least south american judge, one neutral judge, and one american judge.
~ referee: Genaro Rodriguez | judge: Manuel Rodriguez | judge: Jose Roberto Torres ~
Manuel Rodriguez was also a judge in Torres' last fight and scored it 120-109. Jose Roberto is probably Ricardo's uncle.

I'm going to go against the odds and say Torres somehow pulls this one out.

Holt UD:good He's fought better opposition and a higher number of quality opponents, despite Torres facing Cotto.
How in the hell is this fight AND THE WITTER VS HARRIS fight not being televised in the states?? It's completely beyond my comprehension:-(
I mean, what the hell good does making quality fights do, when they are seen? I can only hope that a stream somehow finds it's way to the internet:yep Real boxing fans everywhere will have interest in both fights. Shame on the US networks:-((
Anyone who finds out and posts stream info, will deserve mad props and much gratitutde:happy I didnt see anything on ""cast yet, nor on the ""Tv calendar, though updates may happen HOPEFULLY!!!!

I believe Holt will easily UD Torres but Cotto would completly dominate Holt and knock him out and then hang his photo in his "The Goonies lookalike gallery"

And you know this. Maaaaaaan. :yepTorres BY TKO 7th
Torres had Cotto in trouble.
Cotto is a much better fighter than Holt.
Therefore, Torres will be able to easily KO Holt. Simple deductive reasoning. :yep
Ok, I'm joking about that. But I do think that Torres will somehow pull it off, whether it's by decision or by knockout. I recognize that Holt has skills, but I am not sold on him becoming a major player in this division from what I've seen. Somewhere along the line, he'll run into trouble.

Holt is gonna put on a boxing clinic against Torres.
Well that's the only way he's gonna win this fight. It's gonna be a mistake if Holt stays in the pocket and trade.
And funny shit . . . I saw people saying Kendal will K.O. Torres . . . the last guy that Kendal KOed is a guy with 8-1-1 fight record. He TKO David Diaz on the 8th round though. :yep

i will add another important factor into this fight.
Torres everytime he hits Holt there will be huge raws from the home town crowd.
Trust me ive seen this shit before Holt will need a TKO or KO in Columbia to walk away from this fight with a win.
Boxing Politics, yes Holt is good but dont be suprised if Torres gets a hometown decision or even KO's Holt i mean Holt hasnt got the greatest Chin in the world.

I remember watching this fight and Thomas Davis had been out of the Ring for 2 years.
If he decides to trade with Torres, Holt will be gone.
Just throwing some other angles into this argument.

Torres is a strong puncher but not the devastating puncher he seemed in the Cotto fight (I think Cottos chin was a little shakier at light welter due to the weight), atleast that's the way I felt watching him and Arnoutis go at it.

holts gonna outbox torres. i put a little vcash on torres though as the fights gonna be in colombia, and if it torres can at least put up a descent showing chances are he gets the nod if it goes to the cards.

Yes he will. Torres is a good fighter i was impressed when he fought Cotto. That was a great fight! I have to watch it again!
Holt has never faced a good puncher in his career, Torres is by far the hardest punchers Holt has faced yet. Torres has only one loss against Cotto but was close to knock Cotto out and Holt lost to some unexperienced low caliber fighter by KO. Of course Toees is the big favourite in this fight. Holt has beaten Arnautis more convincing than Torres but Arnaoutis is no big puncher and styles make fights.
