Perhaps, but given the way Frank has been making hell for anyone involved with the Calzaghes I can't blame Cleverly or Enzo.

Speed is a natural gift, it can be improved with training but you need the basics to start with (ie if you hive me flour, eggs and sugar I can bake a cake, but to make a top notch cake I need to learn how to do it). Also you need the right attitude to training, lifting casks (something thousands of people do in their day to work) shows a serious lack of intelligence.

Enzo is not up there with the best crusiers in the world and although he has a marvelous attitude and loves this game he needs a trainer who can take him places not a deliquent Sardinian with a god complex. Enzo C's was nothing more than great fortune. His stable was massively exposed the following year when they all lost there belts. One fighter made him and that was his son. Other than that he was VERY VERY average. Id go so far as to say Billy Graham was a better trainer than that idiot.

Anyway great move by Enzo Mac. He's got the right attitude.

Some accuse Enzo Mac of not developing but that's unfair, he was and he was on a good upwards path but that just seemed to stagnate. He was learning to balance his boxing with his brawling but that was allowed to fade.

If reports are to be believed than any sparring will be an improvement on his preparation for the Afolabi fight.Sure old school training like dragging tyres and that is good as a supplement to sparring but it certainly is no substitute.
