Ok so he isnt 46-0 with 40 KO's and has only fought in the Czech Republic, but still with an undefeated fighter you never no. He has fougt all 6 rounders and has stopped guys. He is again fighting better opponent than Gavin and Saunders but i doubt he will get credit for it on this site.

I thought Frank would be keeping them away from undefeated fighters after Prescott. Could be interesting.

He beat one guy with over a 100 fights ok mostly losses but usually guys like that are tuff fights for guys just turning pro.
I reckon hes hoping Kubin will come forward a bit and throw some punches so De Gale can try and counter punch.
The last fight was ruined cause the guy would only throw the odd hook and wouldnt come out of his shell

Degale will get stick. He is a cunt and deserves it. None the less I hope he wins and shows his class, not a bad looking fight. Far better than the shit Hayemaker dish out for the prospects.

most of these imported eastern euros are a bit shit to say the least, the 3 they brought over last time were, erm not very good.
he may be underfeated, who he fought, whats his am peddigree, bet its not up to scratch,i may be proved wrong,i hope he comes to fight and gives degale hell, cos being a olympic champ,he needs to fight gud uns who give him and us a insight of what he is made of

according to boxrec degale is the 375th best middleweight in the world at the moment. the guy he is facing is 374th. bizarre coincidence?

DeGale once again proving he's the best prospect in British boxing. He will outclass this guy and stop him in the last round.

This is no doubt good match making by Frank. After the guy De Gale went up against in his debut did nothing more than cover up for 4 rounds, they may think this guy will go for it a bit more as he is currently undefeated. De Gale will win, but maybe with a bit more style this time around.

Better than getting a guy with 12-143-9!

Don't see why they need to import them all from Eastern Europe though.....

Fights like these are pointless though... I know they have to learn, but they would surely learn more by taking on a guy that is prepared to hit them back?

They get from them Eastern Europe because these guys are not afraid of getting in the ring with a beast like DeGale. It is nothing compared to living under the iron curtain. They are prepared for battle.

The Brits are pussies and will not enter the ring with DeGale.

DeGale's definitely the worst of the prospects.

His amateur style will go nowhere.

more likely its cos the eastern europs are willing to take the loss on their record for the cash, as well as coming cheaper.

also it might be harder to promote as a credible fight if its terry smith, a chicken farmer from norfolk, rather than some unknown quantity called yerkski molovski from deepest darkest dangerous eastern europe where 'men are men'.

I hope that Degale just fights Eastern Europeans all the way up to his vacant WBO title shot, that way we'll know exactly how good he is beforehand. You know what I mean?

Degale can be the JC of his generation.I agree, he's definately started off on the right foot. I'd be devastated if he go to 47-0 though with 27 defences. I mean Calzaghe is the statistical king. I'll be happy if he gets to 45-0 maybe with 20 defences against mostly eastern europeans and semi-retired former champs who have been KO'd or beaten on points in their last few fights. That would be much more better.

Yep. Hopefully Degale will step up in class around the 39th fight mark.

I think this is a good opponent. He is undefeated and actually has something to lose so he should actually turn up and at least give him a fight unlike his last opponent or a crappy journeyman. I would more rather he faced someone from the Czech Republic with a 5-0 record then some of the shoddy journeymen that you get in this country that turn up to lose and get their pay check.

record really doesnt mean much given the probable level of the guys opponents. just look at the zeller guy with the decent record that fury fought, showed the tiniest amount of ambition early on, then straight into survival mode like any other early career fodder opponent. swaby, a fighter with as many defeats as he has victories, gave him a far sterner test.

At first glances this isn't bad. It's not the fact that the opponent is unbeaten, but the fact he doesn't seem to have lost many (if any) rounds at all. But it's at an extremely poor level and the probability is that DeGale will be at least a couple of levels above this guy.

For DeGale's sake though, I really hope they've seen videos of the guy - it's never a good idea to go into a fight like this totally blind.

Do you realise how difficult it is to get to 5-0 in russia? I mean the guys been brought over of late have shown the standard of boxing over there in that part of the world. These guys are thorough professionals.

They also have a brilliant domestic scene of their own so its not as if they would match up their amazing 'prospects' against unknown fall guys just to build up a half decent record so that that can then be sold as a viable opponent over here... As if that would happen.

I mean look at Jeffries recent opponent. Wow he just oozed class it was like watching an eastern European mike tyson. That manager who brings them all over really knows how to build records doesn't he. Some talent over there isn't there. lol

In fairness, there's nothing wrong with the Russian domestic scene. Hell, it may even be better than the British one. But the standard of boxing in most of the USSR's breakaway countries is piss poor.

Maybe ESB should all pool together and make a degale opponent. Hmmmm Carnage would be good.... lets match him with TFFP, ISHY, Faisal, GPATER and Darni187. Each of his opponents gets 200 euros to look good losing every round maybe take a dive... thats a thousand EURO's manager Hands of Stone has had to pay out. I pay Carnage 100 a fight on the promise that he will recieve a huge payday after his 5th fight so thats a total of 1,500 laid out.

Frankie and his sports network homies then offer us £5,000 for a six rounder against their golden boy. But because Carnage is a scruffy cunt who hasn't got a pot to piss in we only have to give him 2000 and thats more money then he's ever seen in his life.

Carnage lives like Vanilla Ice for the next year or so featuring in eastern european music videos throwing up G signs.

The ESB crew carry on helping HOS build up shoddy fighters to get punched the fuck out of by ex-amateur stars.

HOS gets 1500 Euro plus a nice little brown envelope and the promise of more work very soon.

And Sports Network/ Frank ******/ whoever get a cheaper opponent then any decent domestic fighter probably saving them at least 2-3 grand per opponent. The opponent they get can't fight a cold or the tide in the bath so assured win.

Wow us boxing fans will say.

Brilliant.

And is it me or is the Georgian domestic scene underrated? It really might just be me, but some of these guys really need to fight elsewhere to see how good they actually are.

OK I'm sure this guy will end up beeing terrible, but come on he can't be worse then the last guy he faced. And to be honest at this moment in time I'm not worried by who he faces as long as he get's some rounds in and looks decent enough. Hopefully he can get 6/7 fights done by the end of the year and hopefully he doesn't come out with stupid comments along the way, he needs to concentrate on racking up the wins and not alienating people along with stupid comments along the way.

Because it's DeGale's second fight

You're telling me just looking through the ranks of Georgian fighters at box rec, there are 3/4 guys with very good looking records I wonder how good they actually are. Maybe there are some hidden gems.

Just put him in with DECENT guys. Not clowns like these Georgians or wherever it is.

Take calculated risks - as Groves has done!

People hated Harrison because he was cocky and took on a series of joke opponents. Isn't DeGale doing the same thing?

This is where the US really kick our ass.... they actually match guys against opponents capable of boxing, not running, not holding.... actually BOXING. Hence they learn more, and become better fighters!

Simple?

Bring back the British journeyman before its too late.

Hmmm well he doesnt look too much of a threat as in big fish wise but just from looking at his record, two UD wins over a fighter whose never fought and a fighter whose coming off a 1st fight loss and then 3 tkos over pretty bad opposition minus the last guy who was undefeated in 2 fights..... Degales first fight was a Decision and a very ugly one at that but still Lets wait and see what comes of the gold medal dude

Get rid of Eurobums and most journeymen.

If you aren't coming to win, exit stage to the left, please!

It depends what you call a journeyman.

Guys like Karl Taylor and others have gone from being journeymen to being bums.... Buckley was the same IMO.

Lee Swaby is a journeyman.... capable of beating guys that aren't up to it.

I suppose the disgraceful scoring from most referees doesn't help though - a journeyman can stand a prospect on his head and still lose :verysad
