Judo? I really enjoy watching guys that practice no gee judo, have many counters to traditional takedowns, as well as some very dynamic moves that require timing and agility. Guys like Parisyan just amaze me in the clinch, he really gets dominated from range, but seems in the clinch and on the ground he has some extremely good moves.

Is this guy one of the biggest underachievers mma wise? I know he's very accomplished as far as Judo, but he's also taken his judo skills to MMA to great success, but has been dominated at range simply because he has no striking discipline. His ground work is quite good, has answers for every sub bjj fighters have thrown at him.

in the clinch: I prefer throws/slams but if you have a powerfull knee... you can be like this: :!:

In a standing clinch I've got to be faithful and go for boxing. Because even a good boxer in the clinch will use illegal moves like forearms and elbows i.e. Tyson, Marciano, Floyd etc

To get you down and on the mat I say there are loads. I'd go with the main types of wrestling so GR, Freestyle, Judo and Sambo (I'm sure I'm missing one). Plus I'd include the JJs.

Parisyan is the guy with the awesome Judo throws isn't he. In his last fight he did some DIRTY throws.

In muay thai the cliching is used to throw opponents and keep them off balance and to set up for the knee and elbows

If you are seriously picking boxing over Greco Roman or Muay Thai you have to be smoking some powerful shit.

Kind of cheating beacause it isn't a sport in and of itself, and is based around wrestling, but dirty boxing. You need to learn to use the tieups from greco or freestyle to transfer to punching people, not just takedowns.

So with all that said, greco basically, although you need to have the basics of freestyle or folkstyle, which all good US greco guys will, in order to use the legs for sweeping, which Couture and Lindland both do well.

Judo also works, but most judo guys use it simply as a means to a takedown, not a "clinch and pound" style.
