Cung Le vs Anderson Silva
Why? So many better middleweights for Silva to fight.

I know everyone thinks cung lee is a godly kicker, and he is decent; the best in ufc. But.... still improper technique lacking speed.
I think a national level muy thai fighter kicks better, and I KNOW a national level tkd fighter kicks far better.
Hes just one of the few who went into mma. The scope of mma entrants is far more narrow than most think.

Although he hasn't fought in the UFC yet - Cung Le is the future UFC Middleweight Champion of the World.

no shit someone who trains tkd kicks better. just like no shit a boxer punches better. of course in a style where 95-100% of the focus is placed on kicking ability the people that train in it are going to be good at kicking, a 5 year old could tell you that.
its a different set of needs for MMA though. most people who train in tkd would have to adapt and make a lot of changes for their style of kicking to work well. cung le applies his skill set very well when he fights.

He seems like an exciting fighter to warch and his kicks etc are nice and fluid but do people really think he has any chance with Silva?? I mean Le's level of competition has been pretty poor in fairness. Thought he was off making movies for the last 8 months as well.

Le has been making movies for the past year and will most likely not return to fighting until the Fall. This is unfortunate - because such a long layoff can be nothing but a detriment to his fighting career.
He is actually gettig a little too old for a strike at the title

I'm just pointing out that hes not nearly the best in kicking, although he is good; a lot of people talk about cung lee like he is some kind of kicking god just because he uses then sucessfully from time to time.

he's got good power with em but i'd have to agree he's not # 1 at kicking. damn good though. i think his best attribute is all the takedowns he has from san shou that most MMA fighters don't see a lot of. the flying leg scissor being one that springs right into my mind. the only person who would have experience with that is brock from his wwe days.
honestly the best kicker ever in MMA is crocop and that's not even debatable IMO

Just a minor correction in that Cung Le uses his kicks successfully ALL THE TIME. He is undefeated in every sporting event he has participated in after all.

what makes a good kicker? How to kick, When to kick, Where to kick, Power and types. Cung Le is a very good kicker. (do't know if he is the best) I would put him on par with Lyota Machida It is difficult to say Cro Cop was good but he has that eastern European style of nothing but back leg power. LE has shown more diversity and great sweeps. The last Anderson Sylva fight showed me that finally someone has decided that the front leg sidekick to the Knee and thigh is a very good weapon. Look for Machida to use that against Evans It is classic Karate ad more effective than a round house.

overrated.
His success has been based on circumstance.
he has never head lined big ppv fights and fought guys in his league. He beats average fighters at best.
So long as he keeps fighting in the small stages, he will continue to have a mystique about him.Like Benny the jet.
Just another martial artist who marketing themselves as an elite when their really not.

Meh - go back to watching Check Kongo fights if that's your idea of elite.
Cung proved with his victory over Frank Shamrock - former UFC middleweight champion - that he is ready to challenge anyone at the elite level.

It's all well and good saying that but he needs to prove it and stop fannying about making films.

Frank Shamrock is washed up and kept the fight standing. In the third or fourth round. He let his hands go and gave Cung Lee a barrage of punches.
It took him 3 rounds for Cung to beat Sammy Morgan.

 Sorry mate!
I really want to say Cung is one of the elite and I want to see him at the top of the sport as I think he has the ability to hang with the best. But until he steps up and fights better fighters it's just ain't gonna happen. I reckon he could easily get into the top 10 middleweights but like every other asian martial artist (horrible generalisation I know!) he's going for the big bucks in Hollywood instead.:D

Did you read that in a zuffa press release? I guess that makes it true. Whatever zuffa says is true.
