Is Povetkin better than Chagaev or Ibragimov?
Ibragimov is retired, so I don't see the point in comparing him. Chagaev has been chronically hospitalized and out of the ring since winning the belt, so by virtue of that at least....Povetkin is better. At the moment, I'd say Povetkin has the better skills and I'll stand by that unless Chagaev can score a spectacular KTFO of Valuev.

In a performace to date sense. I think Povetkin, Ibragimov and Chagaev are close to even.
While some view Ibragimov as the least of the three, I think he has the best mobility by far, and best body punch. Iggy has some sweet feet.
Povektin has the best overall offensive skill.
Chageav might have the most power, and best chin.

Povetkin has a good chin, but so does Chagaev. Ibragimov was a good fighter, but his family did not want him to fight, so he retired under pressure from them. They all have skills. Povetkin won the gold. He will lose to Vlad though, so would Chagaev.

Povetkin is much better than Ibragimov and just better than Chagaev. I think he and Haye are the only one who can beat the Klitchkos. All the other heavyweights are of a lower skill (I hope I am not forgetting someone... :huh )

Chagaev I think at the moment is slightly better than Povetkin. I think he's a better, more rounded boxer, and I'd give him a better chance against the Klitschko's than Povetkin, though they would both lose. Povetkin would get battered horribly by Wlad. Ibragimov is under-rated but probably the worst of the 3, not by a large margin though.

What Tommy said :good
Ibragimov will always be remembered for his pathetic non-effort against Klitschko rather than for what he is actually good at.
Chagaev needs to just get into the ring more often.
Vacate the WBA title though..... we don't need to see a Chagaev vs Ruiz trilogy!
Chagaev has no chance against either Klitschko. What is he going to do, counterpunch guys half a foot bigger than him with arms longer than his entire body? He doesn't have explosive power to KO them, he doesn't have a high work-rate to attempt to outpoint them, and his natural style would be ineffective so he'd have to resort to either fighting outside his usual gameplan or doing an Ibragimov and settling for a points loss.
Povetkin has attributes to worry old man Vitali. Vitali's movement looks increasingly restricted, he gets tired quicker and he does not have the timing of old. Gomez's sporadic lumbering attacks had some success and Vitali never nailed him with anything but jabs until later on in the fight. To me, that all combines for me to say Povetkin, with his youth and work-rate really testing his weak areas.
Standing in the way of Povetkin is his defence. He's quite easily hit which means he could lose bad, but in terms of having attributes to WIN a fight against a Klitschko I have to say Povetkin is the best chance. He's also more of a chance to get knocked out then Chagaev or Ibragimov, those are the inherent risks in his style.

Chagaev is a good fight, but I really think that Valouev will beat him this time around.
