The point was that for someone who prides themselves on being a fearless Aztec warrior, Vargas should know that Mexican prizefighters have historically fought through much worse. And he's right, 2 weeks before fight time is not appropriate to call it off for anything but a serious injury or illness. Sorry, iron deficiency doesn't make the cut.

Vargas did all that stuff when he was young and able-bodied. He knows in his current state he runs the risk of getting humiliated again, and against a guy he's supposed to be able to beat, and at a weight of his own choosing. He has one disadvantage spring up and instead of manning up and soldiering through it he brings all the gears of the process to a grinding halt. That doesn't speak to his level of confidence going into the fight healthy. "I want to fight IF", "I want to fight AS LONG AS", "I want to fight UNLESS" - a young and confident Vargas wouldn't be caught dead starting any sentence that way. His cowardice has blossomed with age and public humiliation.

I think this fight is going to happen, and probably it will happen in December. I am picking Mayorga for this fight, but I don't think Vargas is a coward. Do you really buy Vargas storry? I just think he was just to fat to make weight or he tried to hard to make weight and got ill because of it, well thats his fault. Normally 162 should be no problem for him cause thats above his normal fighting weight. Now they will fight on November 23, if Vargas pulls out again hes a complete joke. Thats much time and both fighters should be in great shape cause they are already training since months. Is the fight still at 162? i think the should make it a normal middlewight fight at 160 pounds, not this bullshit catchweight. Both guys normally fight at 154 or 147 so this should be nor problem.
