I'm trying to watch videos, read, and talk to others about learning how to box. So I figured I should have a training log about what training I'm doing. People are welcome to comment on what I need to improve on doing.
Sunday May 10
About 18 minutes of running 15 laps around my house
4X3 Rounds of doing footwork around the heavybag, no punches, just stance and footwork
125 sit-ups

Yes, I have one, I'll work on it throughout the week. And the only reason I'm not going to a boxing gym is because there's none in my area. But here's the work I did today
Monday May 11
8 30-40 yard sprints with 30 seconds in between sprints, and 2 50 yard sprints
3X3 Shadowboxing, mainly working on the jab and right hand
4X3 Heavybag work, working the jab, right hand, attempts at double jabbing, and right hooks and left hooks thrown sparingly, I'm really trying to sit down on my punches now
150 sit-ups
Tomorrow I may try some moderate long distance running with more heavybag work.

Tuesday May 12

Wednesday May 13
16 laps of running around my house(About 20 minutes of running)
Shadowboxing 2X3 (Warming Up)
Heavybag work 4X3 Jab emphasis again, right hand emphasis too, attempts at double jabbing at times but clear work on defense

I think I may end up losing too much weight with all this cardio, I'm going to lift weights tomorrow so I can maintain my weight and strength and not get below 165.

6X3 on an actual Heavybag. I had trouble at first getting the jab going because of the bag moving back and forth, but I was able to get my rhythm going with it after a couple rounds. I was at my sister's Project Graduation event and they had an actual heavybag there so I used it, it was good and less painful on the wrists than my freestanding bag.
I also played a couple hours of volleyball where I was moving around running trying to make plays, so there's some unorthodox training as well.

While hitting the heavybag, I hurt one of my muscles in my left shoulder while overextending on a left hook, I think it came from me weightlifting and my muscles being still not fully recovered from it. But it's probably not a tear, as I can throw a left hook today, it's probably just strained, but it's very sore.

Sunday May 17
I ran 6 laps around a track at the local park, that was about 2 miles of running.
I did 6X3 rounds on the heavybag, I was able to do some decent one-twos and my jab is devloping everytime I do this.

You boxing getting any better?
Yes, I'm able to throw a decent one-two now while sitting on my punches. I'm still working on perfecting my jab, it's come a long way, the right hand is something I'm also trying to better, and my left hook isn't so bad or slappy anymore. My right hook was a natural punch for me so it's an easy one to add to a combination. I'll post a video again soon, hopefully by the end of the week or a little later.
Monday May 18
2X3 Shadowboxing(Warming up)
4X3 Heavybag work Jab, working more on throwing a good 1-2, practice of left hooks a little more than usual, they're better and not as slappy anymore, my jab is nearly a snappy one everytime, things are coming more natural now. My right hand still needs a little work, but I'm getting there.
Session of weightlifting
Incline bench press of 155 pounds 5X3 times
Seated rows, both backwards and forwards, on 5X3, one 5X5, abdominal crunch machine, tricep machine, shoulder press, and a couple other machines with 5X 3 reps. Freeweighta with freeweight shoulder press 5X3 and freeweight flat bench 5X3.

Sunday May 24
Skipping rope for about 15 minutes using different methods
2X3 Shadowboxing
3X3 Heavybag
I was able to throw more punches sitting on them than ever today. I was slowing down because of the heat and humidity outside, but I was able to do things a lot better, including throwing a 1-2-3, jab, right hand hook combo, it could be a lot better though. And I was able to throw a double left hook to the body head combination. I just need to practice more and I will tomorrow.

Heavybag 4X3 It's getting hot and humid here, so this is good for me, I'm throwing more punches and I feel very tired around the 2nd and 3rd round marks, but I fight through it and finish it off, it's tough but it helps the mind and body.
Weightlifting Incline bench 5X3 155 pounds Pectoral Dorscle 10X2 for lower weights, 5X2 for higher ones, Shoulder press 10X1, 5X2 Chest press, 10X2 lower weights, 5X2 higher weights, Lateral press, 5X3, Abdominal crunch, 110 pounds 10X2, 125 5X3, Tricep Machine, 10X2, 5X2 Freeweights, 45 pound on each arm shouler press 5X3, 60 pound on each arm flat bench freeweight.

Training seems legit but ill tell you man dont just use shadow boxing to warmup. Put a big emphasis behind it thats the perfect place to work you basics and all your combos. If you just warmup with shadow boxing you may be bullshitting through it and develop or reinforce bad habits. We are different of course but I shadow box after my bag work or padwork and sparring to continue to work on things. I drill the basics every single day you will always see me at the gym doing the boring shit because its very important you gotta develop them good fundementals first thats your base man you gotta probablly do more shadow boxing at this point of you then anything I would suggest.

While your shadowboxing always pivot or step to the side after every combo with your hands up, I learned the hard way. Also practice feints at different speeds and parrying and countering with the same hand (they throw jab you parry with your right and counter with a right then throw 2 more at least, slip and sidestep for example) and punching smoothly while moving forwards. Just a few things that helped me immensely. Keep it up bro.

I've began using shadowboxing as an exercise to work on things more so than a warm up like I had been doing.
A poster here named spittle8 gave me some exercises to work on, so I utilized them.
About 25 minutes of skipping rope, using all types of techniques, skipping from one foot to the other, alternating, hopping on one foot, etc...
6X3 Shadowboxing
I used my heavybag more for a stamina drill, it really worked me good and made me feel very tired.
60 1-2 combos.
50 jabs
60 1-2 combos
60 1-2 combos
50 jabs
90 1-2 combos
50 jabs
120 1-2 combos
I would've liked to do spittle8's routine of 3 sets of 60, 90, and 120 1-2 combos but I don't have the stamina for it yet.

WOH WOH WOH Dude! None of this 60x3 stamina crap. This alone is undoing any technique your learning. When your learning how to punch still you dont want to get fatigued because then you get sloppy and your muscle memory stores the sloppy punches. It doesnt matter if you can throw 180 sloppy punches if you cant throw 1 with good technique.

If anything change that endurance stuff to just 10:00 "shadowboxing" going very slow with perfect technique bringing your hands back in a perfectly straight line every time, wrists straight, first 2 knuckles, turn the shoulder over, step etc. Ive been boxing for 2 years and I still have that 10:00 of practice EVERY morning, it really does pay off. Every year thats approximately 315,000 perfect punches thrown with just 10:00 a day.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I'd try to throw any punch I needed to with the stamina drills to push myself to be in better shape, but I need to slow down on those. My best punches occur in shadowboxing anyways, I'll slow down on my stamina drills tomorrow.
Wednesday July 8
8X3 shadowboxing The heat was the worst this week today as I did my shadowboxing, so heavy breathing down the stretch and fatigue but fighting through it were part of it today. I did work on slipping punches, jab, right hand, and slowly building up to throwing a 1-2, and a 2-1, increasing speed every so often to see how good I can throw one with the right technique with the right speed for the time being.
60X2 jabs, 60X2 crosses, 60X2 1-2's I'll be revising this exercise tomorrow.

I went on vacation last week and took a break from boxing to heal up and be refreshed and also to enjoy doing things on vacation. I did a little treadmill running, ice skating, and swimming on vacation, and no doubt gained some weight, but I am going to work on getting back to what I was. I ran a couple miles and struggled with it last night on Friday July 31 and I did a good first 4 rounds of shadowboxing today and then struggled. So I'm just trying to get back into better shape, lose a few pounds, and improve my boxing. The good news is all my punches flowed together a lot better today. My left hook is being thrown a lot better as is my jab and right hand.

Tuesday August 4 rest
Wednesday August 5
I ran my usual routine of 16 laps around my house, aka a couple miles or so.
I did 8X3 shadowboxing, focusing emphasis on my left hook, I'm trying to devlop it more as it's not as developed as my right hand or jab.
3X4 heavybag work where I'm improving at landing my left hook on the bag where it used to be a struggle, also trying to consistently get my hipos into right cross shots.

Thursday August 6
8X3 shadowboxing
4X3 heavybag work with punches thrown at a higher workrate
About 20 minutes of skipping rope with a rope that is shorter than I'm used to, it screwed up my timing bad because I screwed up about 10 or so times which is unusual for me but I made it through ok.
Weightlifting
Incline Bench, Benchpress, Freeweight Press above my shoulders, freeweight bench press, pectoral press, shoulder press, lateral press, abdominal crunch, chest press.
