Great domestic fight. Only seen Crolla on tv so can not really judge, he looks to have talent.
Sykes has impressed me every time I have seen him fight so I pick him to win and do it by KO.

If only you knew that Hamidi was an experience, rugged pro who new every trick in the book and gave John Murray a very, very tough fight aswell.
He took advantage of Crolla's inexperience and brought things to the table Anthony hadn't seen before. He promptly won every round in the rematch.
I've never seen Sykes fight so I will refrain from making a prediction at this point, but either is going to have to have some talent to beat Crolla.

I read about Sykes wins over Murray in an interview on BBN:

The Cotto one is pretty well known. Abdulaev beat Cotto in the Olympics and then Cotto beat him up in the pros.
However this site has some amateur records of well know fighters: [Only registered and activated users can see links] :good
Cheers mate Im useless on amateur records

I am as well, just know the odd piece of info. Pretty hard to keep track as many am records aren't recorded and there are some many fights that take place.

never ventured into the British Boxing Forum.
But I was going to predict Gary Sykes via wide UD / late stoppage.
Not seen the fight tonight.. just got in... assuming I've missed it & can't find a result online atm.

Yeah man, good fight.
what were the punch-stats at the end. Sykes 20%, Crolla 18%. but the Thrown stats: Sykes Threw 983-or something... and Crolla 923 i think. Over 10 rounds, as well... not 12. Damn, son! Imagine if that carries on when (hopefully) he's facing World Champions :D.
Sykes always throws a lot...!!
Hope he brings it home vs. K. Mitchell. Will be tough... and Mitchell's been boxing well, finishing most his opponents fairly early in his last few fights... Should be another good fight.

Mitchell is fighting Martinez in June i think...so British title will be vacant!
Likely that Gary boxes someone like Steve Foster Jr or Femi, Ricky Burns

yeah i kept hearing he'll fight Roman Martinez.. but never read it as a 'CONFIRMED' fight with a date.
either way, Good Luck to Gary Sykes! Another one of Keith Tate's successful amateur-projects from Cleckheaton Boxing Academy.
3 of his boys went onto become World Champions... but under his tutelage as amateurs, he's had: 25 national amateur champions, 18 different lads boxing for England.
Can't touch that! Plus to top it all off he's a really nice guy! :yep
Watch out for young Mohamed Ali (his brother's also pretty good... my brother told me lol)

Mohammad Ali? You're fucking kidding me.
My bro used to box regularly up at Cleckheaton a few years ago (Gary was still amateur back then, if Gary wins a world title-- think Ima go around saying "my bro sparred with him" :D... - he did XD) ... and went back for a bit last summer during holidays (too much free time!)... & saw both kids (Mohamed & his lil bro) + told me all about them back then. Saying how their Dad drives them down all the way from Keighley (that's like, probably, an hour's drive each way!).... made sure they were 'first ones in, last ones out' (push 'em hard, you get the picture).
So it was pretty funny to come across that vid on YouTube on my subscriptions, heh.
But yeah, keep your eye on him...!

A great contest and a great win for Gary.... boxed a great fight and was a little bit too strong in the end.
Fair play to both boys for getting this one on at this stage in their respective careers...:happy:happy

Sykes-Crolla was a good wee scrap, well-matched and relentless from start to finish. Sykes looked like he had a bigger punch and just about nicked the result, but Crolla is technically quite good. Not sure how far either of these guys could go beyond domestic class.
