Froch was asked who he thinks he may be fighting next, possibly in September..

"Mick Hennessey is out in Germany at the minute, and he's talking to Mikkel Kessler's people," Froch said. "Also - although nothing's been made official or been announced - we are making ground with Lucian Bute's people. Bute's a fight I am definitely interested in. I'm the WBC champion and he he's the IBF, and I want to unify the belts. He's a tough champion, but I don't want to sit around and fight nobodies."

This is very encouraging for me. The fact Kessler's "people" are even talking about such a fight suggests some progress is being made outside of court.

Sounds like discussions with Bute are further progressed, it could be Bute/Froch and the winner against Kessler :happy

Either fight would be great.

Agreed.

I'm sure Bute would happen first...I'm just happy to see Kessler's people involved in boxing dialogue. Y'know...their actual job.

I would back Froch against Bute certainly.

As for him vs Kessler...... :verysad

Bad style matchup. I think he would be stood on his head for the most part, possibly stopped late with one of those uppercuts.

Proves that the super-middleweight division is an exciting one. Shame Calzaghe came before this.

Lucky for Calzaghe that he came before this.

He's lucky he fought the bums Hopkins and Kessler and not the amazingly complete fighter Froch.:patsch

That was within the last 2-3 years. Not when Calzaghe was in his prime, which is when he should have been putting on his best performances.

Froch will handle Bute and grab another belt. He won't look good doing it though.
If he fights Kessler after, that will be the end of his run and the end of holding any belts.

If Taylor can put Froch down then Kessler can do it for the count no problem. You need a defence against Kessler or the movement and agility of Calzaghe. They are both sorely missing. I like Froch, his heart, attitude and his intelligence out of the ring
but facing Kessler is never going to be the right move.

I really hope Froch gets the Kessler fight, Calzaghe's win over him will turn from good to great and the Froch v Calzaghe issues will need never be brought up again. I'm a fan of both i just see a vast gulf of difference between the two.

This is why I like Froch. Calzaghe waited until his 41st fight to fight for a world title, defended it once, had a good win against Kessler, beat a couple of 40 year olds then retired. Froch won a title in his 24th fight then went straight over to the States and knocked out Taylor and now they are seriously after Bute or Kessler. It's the same with Haye. They are both so different from the typical British fighter who just wants to avoid losing at all costs.

Bout time he gets exposed.

I agree, Froch has the right attitude, take on the big boys now. He's done all the substandard opps out there, now try the best.

Froch is quality, great for the sport. He talks straight and goes about his business well. Sadly a by-product of that is that he will never get the same exposure as a guy with no more ability but a willingness to rip mugs off...anyway more about that later.
I'd make him a big outsider against Calzaghe even now, a decent outsider against Kessler and a small favourite over Bute. Would be backing him all the way in all mind you....even though I really like Kessler too.

I feel the last few years of his career were his prime. More complete fighter.

Impressive talk from Froch tho.

Anybody but Hopkins is fine with me. See how long the Carl Froch Express Train can keep on rolling.

Bute will outbox Froch and you all know how big a Cobra fan I am.

I think Bute will outbox Carl, but I also think Bute cant handle pressure for 12 rounds.

It could well be a carbon copy of Froch Taylor.

Great to see a fighter like Froch, he's rapidly becoming the top boy of British boxing and deserves huge kudos if either of these fights happens.

If you can't get Calzaghe in the ring to show who's the best man then building a resume that's better is as good a way as any.

I'm not saying the Cobra is better or would beat Kessler or Bute but that's not really the point is it. No-one on ESB would be calling on him to defend against some Afrobum or reality TV star so win or lose Froch is the man.

If these fights do come off I wonder where they'd be, all pull pretty decent crowds and Kessler and Froch have shown that they're prepared to travel. If its overseas we've got to get more people over to see it after Chinny and David UK flew the flag last time.

I think Bute will beat Froch on points.

I'll be rooting for Carl though as I think he's a bigger and better fight for Kessler.

Bute

Bute could embarrass Froch, but the Andrade fight should give him some confidence. He has to put Bute under pressure.

Kessler would be an even tougher fight.

Either fight is great for the fans, though. Props to Froch for wanting to fight the best.

Other than the fight being fought in Canada with a completely bias Referee like MArlon B Wright who stops the fight, docks points or generally screws Froch up - i just cant see how Bute can win it.

He covers up when under fire - Froch will put it on him from the outset.

Mikkel Kesslers promoter Bettina Palle told B.T (A danish news paper) that she has been considering calling Canada to set up a fight between Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler for Bute's IBF title.. Kessler himself said he's "Ready for anyone, anywhere". I think Froch is better for Bute right now and Kessler after.:bbb:bbb

Is anybody going to inform me why you all love Kessler and talk about him like hes Sugar Ray Leonard ??
Ive seen him beat an old Beyer, beat Andrade on points and lose comfortably against Joe Calzaghe .. Were is this love coming from ??

Carl Froch has a great chance of beating Kessler. Kessler has never beaten anybody of any note, Andrade was a decent guy but nothing special, he was certainly no Jermain Taylor so Froch shouldnt be unduly worried.
You guys love Kessler because he gave Joe a good fight but Robin Reid gave Joe an even better fight and was far closer to defeating him ..
Kessler is a good fighter but in no way has he proved he can beat a top fighter, wereas Froch has beaten Taylor .. If i was Froch i'd do all i can to get Kessler to this country, his name is still recognised from the Calzaghe fight and its very winnable fight for Froch ..

Could someone please explain to me why Kessler is considered such an all star, brilliant fighter on this forum ?? Im not being sarcastic, i'd just like to know what people are basing this on ?? Whenever i watch Calzaghe v Kessler, Joe wins comfortably by 4 or 5 rounds, it aint even close ..

I'm not sure. The less he seems to fight the better he seems to get.

I think Kessler had an injury that night against Calzaghe or wasn't in great shape for some reason.

Calzaghe won fair and square but Kessler seemed a bit tired and heavy-armed after the midway point and that contrasts deeply with his non-stop punching out-put against Andrade.

Obviously Calzaghe made him think more and didn't provide such a static target but when Kessler did open up against Joe he looked dangerous. He just couldn't sustain the artillery.

.

All this bs about Kessler's hand injury. Calzaghe's career was one long hand injury!

Groovy avatar though!
