View Full Version : What's all the fuss about Marco Huck....
Am I being naive in thinking that Huck is been ‘pushed’ upon us as an highly exciting talent due to the sauerland deal, when all I’ve seen over the last couple of fights is a crude slugger, who fights in bursts relying on raw strength, put in against a couple of ex sparring partners who’ve not had the genuine power to compete.
I wouldn’t mind but he seems like a dirty fighter, holding the head and smashing it statically, a 'point off' offence in my book (hold and hitting and uppercut in rd 4 of his last fight).
Why the commentators laughed it off like ‘ he’s a wild one innit’ but when Herbie Hide does shit like that he gets rightfully rebuked for it.
The Germans are lapping it up and I suppose who can blame them after dining on teutonic fighters for so long.
He seems to have the style of a poor man’s Arthur Abraham but A.A. does this style far better, he times his attacks and is more precise with his bursts and has that air of invincibility about him where you feel if the right person was in against Huck with the right power , they’d catch him on the counter.
I’d like to see him against Olu Afolabi.....
There is no fuss about him. The fact is Sauerland has a deal with Setanta, so Setanta are obliged to big him up.
Everybody knows he's a crude fighter with no stamina that was horribly shown up against an average fighter like Steve Cunningham. USS Cunningham easily outboxed him, and stopped him on his feet in exhaustion. Beating a few guys with padded records has not changed that.
Exciting to watch but it clear he isn't that good. I'm glad setanta have his fights they are usually good
Fair enough, no surprises then....

I don't mind watching him, what bugs me is the total lack of atmosphere at all german bouts, makes every fight seem really boring

Say what you like about Cap'n Huck but when he fought last about 500 people came up with emails featuring nutcases and over 2,000 people read the thread on this site as the fight was happening!
He was not over sold or under sold...he was just Cap'n Huck!
Adios.

He's got his flaws but to be honest we need fighters like him on TV on a saturday night if your gonna attract more fans to boxing.

Very average, he has power but no skill and will always be exposed at the top level...unless he lands big with one of his wild punches.

a fighter who isnt technically sound shouldnt fight. it should be made illegal.....
please he is mad fun to watch. no one overates him except his promotional team (and they should do if i was cutting a part of my wages to them), bunce never says he is a world class talent he is just a big strong cruiser who likes to tear it up.
if cap'n huck isnt a fitting enough name, then "tear up man" or somthign like that just so you know what it says on the tin.

Huck is terrific to watch - I prefer watching him to most British fighters tbh.
