Basilio was a much better fighter than Vito.

it would be a good fight but i do feel Minter is abit bigger possibly more skilled but Carmen was 1 tough bastard and wouldnt back down he once threatened to punch the referee when he stopped him agaisnt Fullmer. I think Minters skills win him it
Carmen wins this one. He is too tough for Minter. Vito didn't lose the first fight by much and Carmen Basilio was a class above Antuofermo.

Basilio is a few classes about both fighters imo.
A ATG imo. I belive Carman wins this.

I hate this as I like both guys...I would lean towards Basilio wining a close decison...but this would be a very competitive fight!

Carmen Basilio is no doubt an all-time great.
I pick him to win - on cuts.

Basilio would hold his own with Hagler and beat Minter in a rugged brawl

I thought Minter won the first fight comfortably .But I go with Carmen ,he had something Antuofermo, lacked a punch ,plus he was slightly better defensively.

I agree with this and while we're on the subject I've never understood the controversy over the Minter-Vito fight. It's close but with a clear winner to me (I think Dakin's scorecard created most of the arguments).

Yes Dakin 's scorecard was a lop sided win for Minter ,but as Mickey Duff pointed out , more should have been made of the judge who scored for Antuofermo.

i didn't think it was close either.
vito said he was the second coming of jake lamotta, but lamotta had a lot of boxing skills including a good left jab,he also didn't bleed like fuck.

Vito even went to the extent of have the prominent bone under his eyebrows shaved ,but it made no difference ,I was ringside when Minter carved him up in the rematch, and sitting behind Antuofermo at the Minter Hagler Fight ,Vito was doing colour commentary ,some one jostled him in the ensuing melee,[not me ], and he turned round and punched them out! You can see him in The God Father part 3 ,he plays Joey Zaza's bodyguard.

I know Vito since the golden gloves in N.Y....he was always a tough ballsy fuck ..he was alway plagued by cuts..he had some power (Eugene Hart KO) but he was more of a mauler and had good stamina...but I know him from the streets and you would not want to roll on the sidewalk with him

Not when most of the ringside press scored for Antuofermo, which they did.

Both men were bleeders, Minter much moreso though and that would likely be the difference in the outcome. I think he would probably be slightly ahead on the cards before getting stopped due to a cut sometime between rounds 9-13 with Carmen coming on strong before the stoppage.
