If the fight does go ahead, this is a huge step up for Alexander. If he wins this he shouldnt be too far away from a World Title shot. A very risky fight though as Virchis is a monster puncher.

Personally im part Ukrainian, so i cant lose in this matchup, but if i had to pick somebody i want to win, id probably go for Sacha.

I very much that this fight wont come off!
Stupid matchmaking IMO.Very high risk for Dimitrenko, very little reward in case he outpoints Virchis.
Dimitrenko has talent, but still needs time and some lesser dangerous fights before he can take on opponents like Virchis.
There are so many limited American heavy weights out there like Brooks,Chambers, and so on.Why the hell does he have to fight a stable mate,a stable mate with murderous firepower who can put his pro career on ice for a very long time?
I am not really sure whtether Dimitrenko is able to hold Virchis at bay for 12 very long rounds.
Anyone remembers Chagaev vs Virchis? Obviously Virchis and Chagaev didnt want to fight each other. They were stable mates, and knew each other very well. They also seemed to be friends.Chagaev vs Virchis wasnt a fight, but an extremely boring chess game.Furthermore both fighters didnt really want to hurt their opponent.
I dont know how well Dimitrenko knows Virchis and vice versa, but Dimitrenko vs Virchis could be quite similar to Virchis vs Chagaev.

Would be quite the end of boring Dimitrenko's pro career...

I have no doubt that Dimitrenko will win this fight. Their talents are at different level.

Virchis by KO .I agree. Dimitrenko has a lot of defensive problems to work out. Although he is more skilled than Virchis...that murderous right still will get through.

Whether Dimitrenko wins viá wide UD, or he loses via KO (on points ahead), the 2nd one is my choice, Alexander has a very good and quick jab, he is in general quicker (handspeed, footwork), he has a better punch arsenal, slightly reach advantages, but all in all, one right hand of Virchis would probably be enough to put Dimitrenko down for a 1 minute count, IMO Dimitrenko is a bit chinny, and that´s not that good against an one-punch-specialist like Vladimir...

Virchis KO 9 Dimitrenko

(Dimitrenko ahead on points with 79-73)

I like both fighters so that I hoped that they would not fight at this stage.

Virchis has a real punchers chance vs anyone. Here's the diffrence. Dimitrenko has enough size, speed, and durability. I don't think Virchis will be able to walk though Dimitrenko's jab or match his footspeed and skills.

I favor Dimitrenko via decsion. This fight might prove to be Dimitrenko's comming out party. Remember, Chagaev had a close fight with Virchis. If Dimitrenko impressed here, he's getting a world title shot soon.

If Virchis wins, I think he gets a title shot as well. Can Virchis win? You bet. Good match making!

I disagree with you on this one Odo. Dimitrenko already has 26 pro fights, it's time to step it up and decide wether he's something for real or just a poor men's version of the Klitschkos. Virchis is a great puncher but that's all.

The reason for the fight is most of the top 15 heavywieght are Eastern European. Most of the up and coming young professional fighters is also Eastern European. The same can be said for the amatuer ranks. To move up in rank a fighter has to fight better competition. In short get used to seeing these types of matches in all levels of heavyweight boxing.

Virchis is a great puncher but that's all.Dimitrenko has tons of potential, but check out the Batchelder fight. Dimitrenko gets hit way too easily on the inside. I do think, however, that he should take this fight. boxers today act like a loss early on is the end of the world. so what if Dimitrenko looses. its not like he can't learn from it. if this fight comes off, congrats to him for stepping up.

I dont know, darien.'Dimitrenko is still a very young fellow, and he still has a lot of obvious flaws. He isnt ready to be thrown among the bears yet.
He still needs time.Besides styles make fights.Brooks is tailor made for Dimitrenko.Virchis isnt.
Virchis vs Dimitrenko is stupid matchmaking IMO.Why dont they match him with Bidenko,or with Malik Scott,or Michael Sprott,Chris Arreola,Danny Williams,Kevin Johnson,Samil Sam,Brian Minto,or his Albanian stable mate Luan Krasniqui?
Virchis is just the wrong opponent IMO.He can put Dimitrenko's career on ice for a very long time by knocking him out in brutal fashion.
What would be the consequence of such a result, darien?
Virchis would still not get a title shot, and Dimitrenko would be out of the game for quite a considerable amount of time.
Virchis stands for high risk, and little reward.
Limited American heavy Calvin Brook was even praised for taking out journeyman Zuri Lawrence-Dimitrenko's victory against Virchis woudnt mean anything.
Pro boxing is a business.Virchis vs Dimitrenko is a stupid business move IMO.
Kohl will damage his own investments.
