Gut reaction it was just an excuse to fire him then get him back on cheaper terms after he lost 2 of his last 3, including one to jason lambert.
What he did was bad and should be punished, but he didn't go Kid Yamamoto on him or anything.

i don't remember which fight it was but kid violated the rules too. (so did gomi actually)...
yamamoto kept punching his opponent even after getting brutally koed. and when the ref intervened..he continued like a maniac.

Big fucking deal. You can time it if you want. Sorbal held his for about .5-1 second longer. Pulver was clearly out for about half a second, he even admitted he blacked out. Penn said, and I quote:
"A lot of people have asked me if I thought I held that choke too long. My answer has always been the same, I didn't hold that choke long enough"

They both deliberately ignored referee verbal and physical instruction to release the choke. This is all about money. BJ is a commodity and Sorbal is overpaid for what he is worth right now. If Randy Couture choked someone one out, whipped out his dick and started skull fucking them while giving the finger to the American flag Dana would laugh and give him a bonus.

I agree with your point. BJ should have been punished by the UFC. But why do you hate the guy so much? You seem to have a clear and distinct disliking for Penn. He is one of, if not the most talented fighter in the sport, and one of the few that actually pulls off extraordinary and amazing shit inside the ring/octagon...

???I'm pretty sure BJ has made every list I've ever made of my favorite fighters. I have no dislike for him at all, I think he's a stud. I was just taking the same angle that a lot of people seem to be taking with Babalu. They are fine with this because they don't like him. If no one liked BJ, they wouldn't have just glossed over what he did to Pulver. But then again, I guess I'm talking about fairness in an organization run by Dana White :rofl

If Babalu kept his mouth shut, he would have been fine. In the post fight interview he said something along the lines of " I wanted to teach him a lesson for talking shit"..........but agreed thats a little harsh.

no surprise . Dana has said countless times that he hates when people view the sport as barbaric. he has to jump on these type of things and make an example for the public. i do agree 100% with donut and widow though, BJ did the same shit, just not as bad.

Babalu now says that he didn't feel Heath or the ref tap him when they did. He didn't know that they wanted it stopped until the ref grabbed his shoulder, and then he released it. The man who was representing him said that you can clearly rewatch the fight, and see Babalu basically looking to the ref several times to stop the fight because of the blood loss by Heath... but he kept going because the ref wouldn't stop it.
I don't buy it... however, the NSAC director said that he didn't think this was a very big deal anyways. He said it was worth a fine, but not nearly as bad as other cases that they have seen.
