Honor i Ojczyzna!
We are here to deliver up to the minute Polish and Polish-American boxing news and coverage. The boxing world has been turned upside down by the growing popularity of the sport in Eastern Europe and the fall of the Communist Empire. An amazing crop of Polish fighters have been breaking through to make their way into mainstream boxing circles. You will find them all here on the Ekspres.
No racism will be permitted, just good ole' Polski fun.

Been away for a while!
I see we gotta start all over again.
I dont know what is going on with Proksa. His fight got cancelled on the last Erdei undercard and no word since.I know he is doing charity events as he has aleays done since he turned pro but not a single word on what's going Boxing wise.
Andrzej Fonfara(5-1(1KO) fights in Chicago on the 13th of July.
Pawel Wolak(15-0-(10KO)(I THINK HE WILL EXPLODE ONTO THE SCENE SOON)will be fighting on the 14th of July on the Gatti undercard in Atlantic City.
Lukasz Wawrzyczek(6-0(1KO) just won his 6th pro fight a few days back in Ireland.Trained by Laszlo Veres(Proksa's trainer)he already moved up to 8 rounders in his 5th pro fight.
Cunningham doesnt want the fight with Adamek or a rubber match with Wlodarczyk.
In unrelated non Boxing news Pawel Slowinski won the K-1 World Grand Prix in Amsterdam. They show a lot of K-1 fights on ESPN so maybe we will catch the replay sometime.

Well, if I was going, maybe yes! I can't believe I'll be coming home from our vacation in Maine on Sept. 29th. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably go to AC to see our boy Kelly win the Middlewt. Title.
When I saw your last post the other day about coming over, I didn't believe it was gonna be in AC then. Now, I guess its for real!
Unless you have $300/$500 seats, its not worth going & sitting far away. But it is great to feel the electricity in the arena before & during a big fight. But its better on TV...I guess.:think

Is what place that big, Atlantic City? Lots of big casino's, nice broadwalk, just don't venture too far from the braodwalk, or you'll get mugged. It would be a wild trip for you guys & I'm sure you'd have a great time. Probably take you around 8 hours. I think I could make it to Pittsburgh in 6 hours or less.
Did they say which casino the fight will be at?

Povetkin undercard in Moscow.
Janik is co-promoted by Wasilewski and Saurland.
Hot Polish prospect Lukasz Janik (*4-0, 3 KOs) looked strong in his fifth round TKO over rugged Uzbek journeyman Makhmud Atadzanov (4-6, 3 KOs). Janik fought the bout with the hunger in his fists throwing wild punches in fast combos and scoring much to the head with both hands. Atadzanov did little to stop his foe, while preferring to hold and grab rather than to answer with the shots. Though the Uzbek fighter never was down, the referee stopped the fight in the fifth round after another continuous unanswered barrage of punches by Janik.
*His record is actually 5-0(4KO)

That does suck. I remember the days when that would happen except downloading, and on dial-up, now that was a real pisser.
Or when Napster was around, people were pricks and would cancel your D/L at 97-99% just to ruin the song. Back then it took 20 minutes to download like a 4mb song. I would be stoked if I hit 5kbps. Times change.

Hello people :hi: (My first post here)
According to me Zegan is finished. He showed nothing in his last fight. He was complaining about opponent's weight (that it was to big) but I think Zegan will not get any other title chance. In my opinion he doesn't deserve on title shot even.
About Adamek. He shoudn't go on IBF title. Meaby he beats Cunningham but no way he beats Huck :bart and propably the fight would be in Germany... About WBC - lets say Haye beats Mormeck and then he goes to HW. WBC would be Vacant and meaby Adamek got then his title shot against Bell or Mormeck. Tomasz can also wait on winner of fight Hill/Arslan and go for the WBA. This would be the easiest way to win a title.
Super G - I hope he will fight more often because he is my favourite polish boxer. There are only 14 days to his next fight :bbb .
Sorry for my english.

SUPER G to face former World Champ?
So says the man in a recent interview. He did not reveal who he plans on fighting after his July 20th bout. His opponent for his upcoming fight on the 20th has yet to be named. He will be defending both the WBC and IBF Youth titles.
Anybody have the slightest of clues who he may be thinking about?IMO he will probably face one of the Hungarian former trincket holders who held one of the ABC belts and im not talking about the top 4 here. But nervertheless it's good to see him testing himself so early.
I remember i posted at the beggining of the year that i heard a rumour he wanted to stay active in 07 and finish the year against a solid opponent. He hasnt been terribly active but i guess the rumour is true about him really wanting to step up the level of his comp.
On a side note the bad blood between Proksa and Jonak was mentioned.Super G basically let the comments about his level of competition and power roll of his shoulders.(Jonak talked a bit of shit a while back).

I hope it won't be guy like 10 wins 21 losses 2 draws because I wait too long for this fight. Fight Jonak-Proksa is possible. I think Super G may go soon to LMW and that would be good move for him. Proksa's chin hasn't been tested yet really... but I am sure hes got a great one.
And this a credit to his SUPERB defense and yes i said SUPERB for those who have said he needs to work on his defense.I guess some people's ideal defense is that of Winky Wright's and not that of a Sweet P and Proksa would fall into Sweet P's catagory IMO.He has TREMENDOUS reflexes, uses excellent footwork and angles he is never in the same place. He knows how to roll with punches and even better his counter punching is great. And most importantly he completly takes his opponents out of there game plan and frustrates the fuck out of them.
His ring generalship is second to none he doesnt just win he dominates sweeping almost every round in every fight. In 10 fights he has lost 1 to a fighter mind you that was 34-7 while Proksa was 9-0.That round that he did lose could have gone either way and he didnt lose it by getting hit Conway simply clinched and pitty patted nothing shots.
So far he hasnt even blead or suffered any swelling and that's because he rarely gets hit clean.

Good post PP! Super G is a great prospect, he can go really far!
P.S. His defence is great, but he makes some mistakes (it's normal for a fighter with his profi experience). But he's getting too cocky at times (Van Esveelde fight).

They didnt go into detail about the nature of the DQ.It just said the he DQ'd against a journeymen.

Undercard results
Welterweight Andrzej Fonfara (6-1-0, 2 KOs) dismantled Joshua Rodriguez (3-1-0, 2 KOs) in just two rounds with solid boxing and power punches.
Fonfara came out using a stiff jab that Rodriguez had no answer for. Fonfara also targeted the body and, after the first round, Rodriguez appeared bewildered and unclear as to how to keep his man at bay.
With just under a minute to go in the second round, Fonfara put Rodriguez down with a left hook to the head followed by a right cross and, despite Rodriguez getting up arguing and afterward, Referee Gerald Scott wisely stopped the fight. The official time of the stoppage was 1:03.

OK, I'm no fan of MMA, but at least in the IFL (International Fighing Leauge) they fight in a ring instead of a stupid cage.
And they have someone we should be interested in.
Chris "The Polish Hammer" Horodecki & is he ever bad ass. When he first started out, his coach put him in there with guys 25 yrs old when he was only 14 & Chris took care of business!

My friend who is half Pinoy half White put me onto The Polish Hammer.
Everytime i would visit he would keep asking "you see the Pole in IFL"and i would just brush it off because im that into MMA.I caught a broadcast of it one day and got to see the kid fight.I couldnt believe my eyes the kid looked like he was about 15 yet is MEAN as a Motherfucker. He puts punches together like a Boxer.
I checked out the IFL website and found to my surprise a bunch of Poles competing.I thinkk there is like 6-8 guys in that league, which is surprising because MMA isnt that popular in Poland at all.
Another Pole just won the K-1 World Grand Prix which is pretty big in Japan.

Not the most impressive record but i guess the WBC knows what they are doing.
From what i read this kid got robbed in his first loss against a fighter who is now 16-0.Ringside observers felt he won and one of the judges did have him winning.
No details as to why he was DQ'd against a journeymen.
Proksa has 10 rounds to work with so hopefully we get to see some of his patented ring work followed by a good stoppage.

The poles Andrzej Wawrzyk terminated also the fifth fight of its professional career as a winner. The 24-jährige Ante Lovric tried first to actually tear the happening with first hook series but the Polish Schwergewichtler lurked on gaps of coverage of the opponent. With rights to the body the 19-Jährige sent to its contractors still in the first round at the ropes in ring-deaf. In the second passage of meeting one another Wawrzyk acted from the ring center, set on four rounds, very pressureful. With left and right hooks he brought the Croats equivalent several times in embarrassment. The Schwergewichtler from Split seemed to be obviously overtaxed with the situation. To a multiplicity of hits Lovric went again to soil. Thereupon it signaled the task, so that Ringrichter Ernst Salzgeber broke the unequal Fight off after one minute and four seconds.

Lots of people on the board say that Ding would KO Adamek fairly quickly, but I also realize Ding is pretty hyped here at ESB because he is a member, which is great and everything, he seems like a nice guy, but it personally doesnt make me all starry eyed.
I personally feel Adamek would be able to take a UD, but he would have to watch for getting caught, that is one thing I would be a little nervous about. I think Adamek and his team would know better then to brawl like he did for 2 fights with Briggs. I think he would come prepared and stick to the gameplan thought up by his team. Adamek is a pretty well disciplined fighter and I imagine him using a similar style that he used against Pineda, probably with a couple of tweaks.

So far the article only says that his opponent wasnt intimidated and came out firing. He managed to land a few hard shots on Proksa but they had no effect. As we all know Proksa's temperment he probably got pissed off for getting hit and punished his opponent.

No he didnt but it seemed like he had a new found love for his power shots to the head.
As i expected the Romanian has a very little amount of success in the 3rd and he got punished for it in the 4th.That's Proksa'a temperment....you hit me im going to hit you twice as hard and twice as many times.

I watched the fight. Opponent was really good, landed good punches mostly in 3th round, absolutely wasn't only punching bag. Proksa kept his both hands heigh what surprised me. He was the smarter and faster guy in the ring. Super G needs to fight more often and work more on his defense.

I'm not schocked about that. The fight wasn't on TVN like it used to be in the past and now really few people care about Super G. Besides when you look at his opponent's record what can people say? Journeyman. So they don't care about such a fight. IMO

I guess you have to have a upgraded cable package but still it makes up for getting PPV fights for free.
I think people havent commented on the fight much because it's no going to be broadcast in Poland until tonight(which is right now actually)on Sportklub.

I just watched Proksa's fight. What A confident & DYNAMIC fighter! He's lucky he didn't get DQ'ed in the 1st rd, hitting the guy when he was down, plus in the back of the head. Come on Super G, keep it under control. Then he goes from playing with the guy, to pummeling him in an instant. Showed even more hand speed then before. That left hook near the end was a blur!
Very impressive. He's ready to step up bigtime. I like how you could see that he wanted to do real damage with his shots.
Love to see him break Chavez Jr in half.
Future Champion, for sure.:D

European Boxing News: Former WBA middle champ Mariano Carrera returns to action on Saturday in Duesseldorf
23.07.07 - By Per-Ĺke Persson: Former WBA middle boxing champ Mariano Carrera returns to action on Saturday in Duesseldorf, Germany and take on Hungarian Janos Petrovic. Carrera won the title last year with an upset stoppage win over Spaniard Javier Castillejo in a fight of the year candidate but was later stripped of the title after a positive doping ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) test. However, he only got a short suspension as it was viewed he hadn´t taken the forbidden stuff deliberately but as part of his medication for asthma.
The team behind Carrera inisisted they had done nothing wrong but were obviously guilty of not checking the medication. Carrera have since prepared in Venezuela and is trained by Eleazar Castillo. As with Castillejo, Mariano is under a promotional deal with Universum, which means a boxing rematch is very much possible - and something to look forward to. Also on the Duesseldorf bill are Russian cruiser Gregorz Drozd, supermiddle Lukas Wilaschek(Lukasz Wilaszczek 17-0 6ko)DAMN GERMANS TRYING TO CLAIM HIM AS THERE OWN CHANGING THE SPELLING OF HIS NAME, jr light Vitali Tajbert and heavyweight Dieter Roth.
Former IBF jr middle champ Roman Karmazin take on Italian Luca Messi September 8 in Los Angeles.
Dutch middle Raymond Joval could get his first fight since 2003 at home October 8. "Well, there is some talk about it" says manager Stan Hoffmann, "but it´s far from a done deal."
Former EBU heavy titleholder Paolo Vidoz ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) is on the mend after a hand injury and will return to action October 20. Vidoz is trained by ex-World champ Sumbu Kalambay, whose nephew Carel Sandon, a lightweight, turns pro July 26 against Civianova Marche.
Belgium-based jr middles Kimfuta Makusu and Carlos Schram clash August 25 in Kinshasa, Kongo.
IBF I/C junior welter ruler Fedele Bellusci defends the title against Georgian David Makaradze August 10 in Ostia, Italy.
A team of pros from Uganda arrived in Stockholm today -July 23 - for preparations for the show promoted by Pro Box Scandinavia August 18 at the Eriksdal Hall in Stockholm. It will the first professional boxing ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) event in the Swedish capital for 39 years.
