Botha was one of the true tough guys of the sport. He had pretty decent over all boxing skills and performances against guys like Michael Moorer, and Mike Tyson. Lewis seems to be the only guy that blasted him out rather quickly, and the fight was a little questionable on the stoppage considering Botha was known for getting off the canvas and fighting on. Would he been able to break down Vitali and stop him late?

I dont know it took him 8 rounds to polish off Sanders, and that fight looked like a sloppy bar room brawl. Botha could take a better shot than Sanders.

Sanders has Ko'd Botha like 7 times as an amatuers, Seriously!! They fought many times in the South African amatuers .

Vitali would have destroyed Botha, quite easily I think. Botha had decent enough skills, but in his fight against Lewis he barely landed a punch, and the stoppage was not the slightest bit questionable.

Klitschko by a 5 or 6 round beatdown. Botha not in the class of V.K., who wins ugly sometimes.

Good lord - Vitali beats up and destroys the limited Botha, just like he did Danny Williams. This would be a VERY one-sided beatdown, leading to a mid rounds TKO.

Botha is on a higher level than Williams, and also has a far better chin.
Surely you must agree that Williams has a Grade A china chin.

I always thought botha was a little over looked, he gave tough fights to both tyson and moorer. I would of liked to see him get more chances at a title shot.

That combination was badass, and we all know that Lewis was a 245-250lb man who could hit hard.

Surely you must agree that Williams has a Grade A china chin. His chin held up to a free swinging tyson who hit him with hook after hook, Tyson was very accurate that night and was hitting williams with real deal shots I honestly dont know what kept him up. It only took one good hook to put botha on his ass.

The right hand that put Botha on the canvas would put anyone on the canvas, flush, right on the chin.. it was a lucky punch but planned.. Tyson hit like a mule and showed it right there.

Tyson's one punch power was always over rated. He couldn't KO McMuffin either - and he was landing flush.
The punch that Tyson landed against Botha is often cited as his best ever.
When Williams fights, most anybody (including the likes of Fraudley) who manages to tap him on that China chin of his has him doing an odd dance in those circus pants that he wears.

It may surprise you to hear that no, I don't think Williams' chin is GRADE A china - shaky, without a doubt, but as bad as somebody like Fraudley, who takes one shot from a light puncher and is OUT?? No way.
Guys like Fraudley hit the deck and don't get up. That Williams took shots AND got up shows his chin isn't complete china. Not great, certainly, but not glass.

I agree the punch tyson hit botha with was right on the button, but the accumalation of punches williams took was more impressive to me. When tyson had him dancing I thought it was going to over in the 1st round but I was wrong, the man got heart.

Nope. Vitali would win, probably easily too. For reference, Wlad KO'd Botha in the 8th round.
What does that mean? That Vitali would automatically win because his brother won? Sanders knocked out Wlad and Vitali knocked out Sanders. I believe Wlad is the better puncher and far faster than Vitali so Botha would have more chances to get inside and make it a fight. Cant you see Botha making that trademark sound when he throws his punches, and wearing down Vitali till he finally crumbles late in the 10th? :happy

I am bumping this thread up because I have always liked Botha for some odd reason.
My opinion is that it would be a very good workout for Klitschko.

No I can't, not at all. Vitali and Wlad both have their strengths and weaknesses, but overall I put Vitali slightly ahead of Wlad.
In what way? Vitali is only older, and he still retains Sdunek who will get him nowhere when and if he faces some real fighters. With exception to Lewis, Vitali has fought noone that can fire back and put up a fight. Wlad on the other hand has learned how to deal with a serious threat and push on. However the dreamers want to spin it, I still retain that Lewis knew he was going to drop rounds fighting the way he needed to fight against Vitali, but eventually would break Vitali down, and he did. Lewis fought an uncharacteristic fight because he thought Vitali would fold up, its just Vitali was feeling tough that night, so it took a little longer. Lewis could have easily stayed back and outboxed Vitali if he so chose.

Sanders won the first round, Vitali dominated the last 7.

Lewis came in fat. He thought he was gonna fight Kirk Johnson which is why he didnt train hard. With two weeks notice Johnson gets hurt, they put in Vitali who was gonna be on the undercard. Vitali is a much tougher fight than Johnson, and now Lewis is fucked, fighting Vitali when hes not ready.

Your right Vitali was a stand in for kirk johnson, it makes sense why Lewis fought in such a sloppy manner. That was one hell of a fight.

Even if lewis was in top form he would have fought the same way. Remember he told his good friend Corrie Sanders how to fight Wlad? He knew when you pressured these guys they fell apart. Just so happens Vitali was a little tougher than he expected. Lewis would have beat him anyway anytime, he created a myth about Vitali, because hes not that great of a fighter.

Botha is a grossly underrated heavy, but Vitali would beat him. How? Refer to Wlad-Botha.
But for the record, and this is to all the old time nuthuggers, Botha would beat Quarry. Fact.

'The White Buffalo' was a tough cookie but he would have had zero chance against Vitaly. Vitaly pulverizes Botha and kayos him in five.
Vitaly only KOES him that fast if The White Buffalo has lost the will to fight. It took Klitschko 8 rounds to dispose of Williams.
At this stage in Botha's career, he is not a real threat to Vitali, but he may hang on in there hoping that Klitschko injures himself. As we have seen (and heard), Klitschko has somewhat of a glass body.
In light of this, it would be a decent workout for Vitaly at least.

Yea that was one hell of a shot. It was probably Tyson's best one punch knockout.

I agree with what your saying, it seems to me the more sloppy you fight wlad the better you do. Peter had some success with it, and I believe once he had Wlad hurt he should of took a step back and got more leverage in his punches instead of smothering them.
