Of course they'll try to fight anyone other than Vitali just because Don King is involved. He's afraid he'll lose his only belt out of the 3 and he has to share that one with Duva

Wlad fought just as dirty as peter, they both were fouling each other. Its a fight what do you expect?

because wlad kept ducking, turning, grabbing, and dancing around the ring. it was a shame the ref didn't even warn him. he was flopping all over the place.
without a doubt these are the two best in the division. i would love to see the rematch. Peter has gotten better. i dont know if wlad can survive again.

I was worried about the same thing, I thought it was said Vitaly get's to fight the winner's next match no matter what, but when King's involved nothing surprises me. it sure would make Peter look like a coward if he avoided that fight. Peter-Vitaly is the fight I want to see most and I would even pay ppv to watch Vitaly beat on Peter.

You know that King will put somesort of unfair nonsense on Vitali's supposedly guaranteed shot at Peter, thereby causing Suliaman to throw up his hands and allow King to get away with it.......and Peter won't have to fight Vitali.
That's what I thought would happen all along, and I bet that's exactly what will happen.

Sam Peter is receiving way too much credit for beating a world-class bum like James Toney. If Peter tries to box the Big O like he did against Toney, he's getting KTFO'd...guaranteed!!

I dont think the Big O can knock out Peter. I do think the fight "could" be more competitive than most, because I think the long layoff hurts Peter more than Oleg. Peter looked terribly out of shape at the press conference.
That being said, I can remember sitting ringside and watching Oleg get blasted in one round to Mcall. He did box well against Tua before getting caught, but Peter throws much faster hooks than Tua, so he is going to have to be on his A game to stay away from that hook and try and win a 12 round decision.

Fuck no!
Vitali was granted his emeritus champion status by Jose Suliman's rule of the WBC because Vitali did the honorable thing by retiring rather than fighting at less than 100%.
That in itself is a huge sacrifice by VK since no one reading this would've given up a shot at 8 million by merely beating the fuck outta the likes of Rahman.
Don't lie now people.
Rahman didn't stand a chance anyway................................

Exactly lefthook31 and we know what happens to fighters on the edge and eave of big (money) fights - De La Hoya vs Sturm & Hopkins vs Allen III LV, 2004 - they simply box cautious so that they secure the next fight, plus Vitaly is making a comeback from a long layoff and injuries situation. But focusing on the question at hand, I don't think either Peter or Maskaev can avoid "emeritus" champion Vitaly cause there are papers signed and the WBC involved ( remember Bowe stripped of the WBC belt after Bowe Holyfield Nov 92 and Lewis fighting Tucker for the vacant title in 93)... But there is every reason to believe Peter would fancy a unification fight with Wlad & IBF and/or WBO Champion - remember also that Lou Duva is behind Peter and Kathy Duva's behind Holyfield to get that deal as sure as done.

Yeah, and look how the unfair split that King and Duva demanded almost caused THIS certain fight to not happen.
King will pull his usual nonsense cause he thinks he's got Vitail where he wants him, and King will, almost certainly, have his options of future fights thing on the contract................Vitali won't agree to giving King part of his future fights, and it'll all go south. And Suliaman won't force King to make a fair deal, even though its a supposed guarateed titleshot.
But let's hope Oleg beats Peter so we won't have to see how unfair King will try to be to VK.

I could see Maskaev winning a decision over Peter. It took Peter 2 attempts to beat an out of shape Toney legit and no proper HW should let an out of shape ex middle beat them.
Peter has power and a chin but limited In skill.
Is Peter really that any better than Samil Sam?

Toney has beaten Ruiz, Rahman and Holyfield, all Top 10 heavyweights when Toney fought them. And holy is still fighting and gets a titleshot and is good enough to beat up naturall middleclass heavyweights. Toney was doped against Ruiz but i bet he was also roided against Holyfield and Rahman and Peter.

I'm going to go with FALSE. Show me the video, not just some hearsay internet BS. Even if it's true, he had a knee injury, which is the reason he retired rather than face Rahman and dupe the public into thinking he was 100% healthy. You should be thanking him.

Toney didn't beat Rahman, it was a draw even though I & many others believe that Rahman won that fight.
The Holyfield win was a good one but I'm pretty sure Holy wasn't top 10 at that time.

Dont you think Toneys using always steroids at heavyweight but mostly gets away with it? He was positive in 3 heavyweight fights, against Ruiz, Booker and Batchelder. He was lucky that he wasnt tested in the others.
