Where to begin?

All week one thing has been bothering me.

From Big Rick
Total ESB Posts EVER: 1
Be scared SBW, be scared! I have personally known Gary 'The Baboon' Gurr for a number of years an have never met a man with the arm strength and power as Gurr.
He's mad as a bag of snakes with the speed, guts and determination as a group 1 race horse.
Known for his bareknuckle brawls in the back streets of Auckland, i have personally watched him take down many high profile sports stars in arm wrestles whilst chatting up the local ladies and sipping away on a whisky, a huge testament to his arm strength.
This man won't go down without a fight, he has taken out bigger men than Sonny Bill in a blink of an eyelid his whole life and his call 'i'll finish him in the first so i can get to the bar' shouldn't go unheard.
I'll personally be at the fight to watch SBW come unstuck to this modern day Tyson, and witness the brawler with a ticker the size of pharlap!Funny, no?

Actually no. Not by a long way.

This shitheaded post was picked up by national media and reported across the world. Let me repeat that.

Some fuckwit who joined here and spread the biggest line of bullshit I've ever read in my life happened to get international coverage.

Brad Walter, a "journo" just "happened" to come across the afore mentioned quote and put it on his twitter stream 1/2 an hour after it was posted. If you can't see the problem here I quit, I'm out.

But to the fight.

I start on the piss at 3.30pm at a pub near boxoncottonons(boco) where I'll be watching the fight. I'm at the Broken Hill in Vic Park, WA or as it used to be fondly known, 'the Broken Nose'. Theres a few regulars there and as a nod to the old days a strung out junkie chick and her pimp boyfriend in the corner. I order beer along with the regulars (they relax when they realise I'm one of 'them') while Junkie chick sidles up next to me and orders a glass of water. Don't even think about asking me babe.

Texts fly between me and boco as we discuss odds and bets. Around 4 I falter and put $10 on Geale by points at $6.40. Hey, thems good odds.

I plan to leave but my natural charm has soon won me some new friends so its another hour of pissing on and swapping war stories before I call a cab. My new best friend wishes me a fond farewell and retreats to a group of guys who 'knew him back in the day' and while I'm waiting for the cab I overhear snatches of 'So your off the gear now' and 'Remember that chemists...'

The cab makes it just in time.

I've had a few more than I planned and suddenly Spiros or Con or whatever his name is has me down a back alley and I have sudden glimpses of being on tomorrows nights news starring bullet ridden from a gutter. Thankfully he turns the meter off while he digs out the street directory and we're on our way.

Make it to Boco's after getting dropped off a block away (you can never be too safe) and go to show him my winning ticket. Which is now not in my pocket. Retrace my steps and wonder in amazement at how many things look like betting slips in the dark as I have no luck. Oh well, looks like no matter what happens I cant win tonight.

Boco's mate comes over and mentions he has some German backpackers staying at his place. He instantly regrets this as I start making excuses to stay at his place. This decision could be tighter than the main event.

Boxing...thats right, thats why we're here. In another epic episode of their magnificent trilogy, Alex Leapai hits Oscar ThanksI'lltakethepaycheck once and crumbles inside a minute. Look forward to part IV of this opus.

Dinner served and I inhale a plate of Spag Bol in less time than the baboon to make an appearance against SBW. I'd give highlights but lets be serious, there weren't any.

Main Event! I'm still undecieded on this which is a first for a long time on a Mundine PPv in awhile. Geale starts strong and wins the first round and theres an air of optimism in the house. Could it happen?

15 seconds into the second and Geale is down, a flash kd by Mundine but a good shot none the less. Geale takes a minute to recover and comes home strong but with the kd it has to be a 10-8 to Mundine. I wonder out loud whether that will come back to haunt Geale.

Rds 3-7 I score to Geale, good solid action with both guys landing and each round is close but its workrate vs bigger shots for the scoring, Geale is impressing and starting to make some believers. Landing some great hooks over the top yet whenever one guy pulls ahead the other has an answer. Its down to the individual how you're going to score it, arguments will abound.

For me, Mundine pulls it back from rd 8-11. Lands cleaner, harder shots to win the rounds but not convincingly. Already I'm thinking the kd is going to come back and haunt Geale. At the end of 11 I have it 103 even.

Last round. It can be scored either way. I try to put my natural bias out of it and swing between either fighter and can see a fair argument for an even round. In the end I give it to Geale, making it 114-113 Geale, which I realise with the margin automatically disqualifies me from bitching about the result (which of course I do 5 seconds after its announced).

The cards are read and its a sd to Mundine. Choc carries on like hes just hopped up Mt Everest on one leg while Geale disappears quickly. I keep working on bocos mate to take me back to the German backpackers but while I'm on the phone the prick sprints out to his car and drives off with me looking on forlonly from the balcony.

I guess it just wasn't meant to be...

Some earlier notes;

Barry Michael...as much as I try not to insult people here, fuck off and die already, your chin must be red raw from the amount of ball slapping that happened tonight.

Any talk of Mundine vs Pavlik musy be accompanied by an ambulance on standby...seriously.Over and out

That last round sure was a beauty
But an 11-10 round to geale was a bit over the odds dont you think. On a serious note good wrap of your evening

Providing you leave your clothes on and dont do anything too perverted, we should make a Truman show out of you.
