I have to think Silva is going to operate on him.

I hope he doesn't try to stand with him again, he's best shot is a ground and pound, and I'm sure he's been practising the clinch. That would be funny if he got caught in that again.

Franklins too great a fighter to not have a chance but stylisticly hes matches up bad with Silva as he cant defend the clinch if you watch Franklins fight with Jorge Rivera you see hes always been poor in the clinch.

I don't see what Franklin can do here to win. He's not going to beat Silva on the ground, and he's likely not going to beat him standing. The only way I see Franklin winning is if he lands a huge punch and straight out KOs Silva ala Quarry. The longer this fight goes, the worse it gets for Franklin.

my thoughts exactly. on the feet silva is better with the kicks and seems to have crisper punches, and obviously dominates any clinchwork. on the ground silva's underrated and better than rich, and could possibly submit him or neutralize things to get back to the feet.

rich is our hometown guy, I work with a guy who trains at his gym, and he swears they're working hard on the clinch, but when I point out that working the clinch and being in the clinch with someone on silva's level are two different things he had no choice but to agree.

I do not think he will win but he should not be totally discounted. We have seen quite a few surprising lucky strikes recently but more important to the matter is that Rich is a top class operator and not a cheap bum.

Exactly Rich is a very very good fighter maybe even great this is a guy who put Quarry out of action for 2 years, destroyed and destroyed very badly Evan Tanner twice, beat the fuck out of David Lousieau and Jason McDonald and more. Hes a big strong Middleweight who can punch and take people down very well. Rich is always going to have a chance just I think Silva has the style to beat him unless Rich cant get him to the ground which makes the fight intriguing :think Richs GP technique is solid and we all saw a weak Travis Lutter nearly beat Silva and dont underestimate his BJJ skills hes is a Brown Belt now. But standing he gets raped hes kinda slow and loopy while Silva is fast and accurace plus his kicks are deadly and the Muay Thai he has should be illegal.

I agree 100%. Rich is a great fighter and I'm really wanting to see him win, but I have a more than a few concerns.

And rightfully so. If Silva beats his ass badly agian do u imagine a Franklin at 205 possiblity he was there before KOing Tanner and Shamrock.

He was great at 205 as well. However, that division is STACKED with talent. I'm not sure how he'd do today, but I've often wondered if he may choose to move up.

The problem with Rich is his a "free style" fighter. I mean WTF is a "free style" fighter? He has no bread and butter to go to.But is merely competent in all aspects of MMA.Methinks personally the hype machine stopped with Anderson Silva.Rich as nice a guy as he is is going to get another beatdown i cant see how he can win.

I think it's safe to say that fights are often won by the guy who appears to have the weaker skill set. Rich has a good chance to beat Silva. I'd say 40ish %.

It's become nearly impossible to pick a sure thing and picking a sure thing against a guy like Franklin is just not so cut and dry.

I think he would be destroyed by the guys in that division. Beating Tanner and Shamrock is one thing.....but Liddell, Rampage, now Wanderlei, Shogun, Henderson, hell even Tito. Those guys are all not only top at 205, but in all of MMA. That is definitely NOT a weightclasss to "move up to" any time soon :deal

If I was Rich Franklin I would be a very nervous man. I see nothing but more pain in this match.

Franklins problem isnt his style, it's silva's. Franklin never wins this, no matter how often they fight. You dont beat anderson silva with a weak chin, you beat him with toughness and strong wrestling, working from the top and avoiding subs.Weak chin? Franklins nose got crushed into oblivion. He couldnt defend against the Muay Thai clinch and subsequently was KO`ed.His chin isnt in question.

Everything about this matchup is bad for Franklin. I think standing up is far more dangerous, both are southpaws, but experience, reach advantage and range are all in favor of Silva. Silva controls the outside with reach, the inside with the Thai clinch. He can beat Franklin at any range while standing with a single blow.

I think Franklins best shot is to take Silva to the ground and hope to control him there, get some lucky elbows in, stuff his head against the cage, turn his lankiness against him.

Franklin is definate underdog but i'm sure he will come in with a different stradegy this time around, he honestly thought he could beat Silva on his feet last time. This time he will try something a little smarter I'm sure, so I expect a alot better fight out of him. Lutter was GnP ing Silva easily during their fight until he went for that stupid sub attempt. And Lutter was very weakened from not making weight. I give Franklin a decent shot at it.
