Quintana was never really that good of a fighter to begin with. His only good win was against a prospect. 90% of the people that hype this guy up are Cotto fans. I could give two shits if he ever fights again.

Yeah, I am a Cotto fan, and I was being sarcastic, but my response was majorly because you did not answer the thread question and you made a terrible point saying that Quintana was never that good and that he is hyped up by Cotto fans.

The fact that he even got up was amazing, that was a great body shot and most fighters would have not gotten up. Like, DLH or CASTILLO WITH HATTON. He got up but just couldnt continue.. if he would have quit, he would have not gotten up but since he got up.. he at least tried
Yeah, too bad 2 boricuas had to fight each other for the title.

I've watched him fight a couple of times and I didn't see anything special from the guy. He has some years old and, relatively speaking, hasn't done a whole lot. Once again, he's beaten nobody of note except a 22 year old prospect. Don't get it twisted though, I'm not trying to put down Cotto. I think he's a terrific fighter. However, Quintana is not. He didn't even want to fight Berto. That tells me alot about where this guy's confidence level is. Do you really think Quintana is all that good?

Quintana has excellent skill. Yes, Cotto wrecked him to the body, but there's no shame in that loss. One might note, Quintana made him miss from every angle imaginable. Cq is very slick and has talent, we'll see how he handles himself when he comes back.
As for BIG REg spitting his usual round of nothing?? Where in the hell do you get "he didnt want berto"?? There werent any official offers, just discussions and board chatter. Nothing is/was concrete except you're stupid statement.
There was another thread this week talking of similar type discussions/conjecture about facing P. Williams. NOTHING IS CERTAIN at this point. I wont pass judgement on where he's going until after we see how he reacts to the adversity of that loss.

Hmm I don't know man, a lot of people thought Quintana was going to win..and I believe a majority of Puerto Ricans were supporting Quintana as well. It's tough to say whether Quintana is a good fighter or not since he hasn't fought a lot since the Cotto loss, but it's really not fair to indirectly discredit Cotto when the fight was considered a toss-up at the time.

I did a little research 4 ya and you can read and :|
Rafael Joglar, manager of Carlos Quintana, told Puerto Rican media outlet ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) Endi there is no chance that his fighter would face unbeaten WBO welterweight champion Paul "The Punisher ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) ([Only registered and activated users can see links])" Williams in the near future.
Rumors of a Williams-Quintana bout have been running wild in Puerto Rico. Jogler cited the fact that Quintana has been inactive since last December's knockout loss to Miguel Cotto ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). He said that Quintana is currently slated for a September return.
One fighter that Quintana does want to face is unbeaten welterweight prospect Andre Berto, provided that Berto gets by David Estrada on the Sept. 29 undercard to Jermain Taylor ([Only registered and activated users can see links])-Kelly Pavlik in Atlantic City.

CQ has far better skill than santos, from my perspective. I'm suprised that they flat out said he wouldnt fight Williams. However berto osnt exactly a bad option.
Ultimately?? Quintana must be prepared to face the best available be it PW, PBF, SSM, or Cotto. That is if he ever wants to be respected as a real champion.

You know who's really pathetic? Cotto fans who try to hype up decent fighters that he beat just to make him look better. There's no doubt in my mind that Cotto is a highly talented fighter. I just think it's a shame that he's been fed so many setups. Quintana is nothing more than a gatekeeper at best. There's a reason that Arum was willing to pay Urkal step aside money to fight Quintana for a paper title. If you want to get on somebody's case, talk shit to Arum. He's the one who's been coddling Cotto, not me.

This is why I like you C Money, you stick to your guns(even if it's a ridiculous claim such as Floyd ducking Spadafora). I don't need you to do any research for me, I already read that bullshit article that said that Quintana wanted to face the winner of Berto v. Estrada. Anybody can do a google search, it's not that hard. I'll give you an A for effort though. Floyd never defended his 147 lb. crown because of Mitigating circumstances. Before Floyd even fought Judah he said he would relinquish the worthless IBF belt after he beat Judah. Sure enough, he relinquished the title right after beating Judah. You see, Floyd takes pride in meaningful belts, unlike other fighters who go after vacant titles. Next up, Floyd won the real WW title. Instead of defending this title against an unworthy challenger or some paper champ he went up to 154 and beat a legitimate champ. Now he's back at 147 to take care of some unfinished business. Floyd is a true champion who challenges himself, there's no need for you to continue this pathetic anti-Floyd campaign that you have going on.
