Im taking a few supplements and a legal hormone my sports doc has prescribed me to help with my injuries etc.Im downing nearly 30pills plus a day.

Speaking with a old coach who is going to be coaching the Sharks reserve grade side next season.Though my shoulder probably aint going to be ready for season 09 at the current rate its going.

Was thinking of moving to South Korea as work is easier to get there, and it'd work out better with their weak currency.

Will stay here for another month at least, but if I can't find work I might have to trek back home.

My fortnight. An essay by LeonMcS.

I work at a minesite, fly in for 8 days of 12 hr shifts then fly out for 6 days off. With the recent market collapse the company have taken this as a great excuse to sack/demote and basically run riot over the whole workforce. So I flew in and was greated with the new roster that said 'Bad luck Leon, you have to do a week of days and then stay in and do a week of nights'.

So not overly impressed, was then summoned into a meeting with foreman & manager where they proposed the tempting offer of a job demotion and 25% pay cut. Passing on such a great offer I knew then my time at this mine was running out.

Luckily another company had just contacted me and wanted me to come in for an interview. So wasn't too stressed and figured I'd just see out my time here.

So to work, did my week of days and just couldn't sleep all week. Best I could manage each night was 4 hrs and by the sixth shift this caught up with me while driving an IT (glorified forklift) I dozed off while the guys took their time on a job. Next thing I knew there was the manager looking at me shining his cap lamp in my face. Talk about busted!

Being asleep underground is instant dismissal, so with the prospect of now not having to do an extra week and getting home early and a new job saw me quite happy at facing the chop.

Into the managers office and all you need to know about him is hes a bully and an arsehole. He sees me, leans back in his chair and with a wide shit eating grin says 'Give me one reason i shouldn't sack you'

And it hits me. He wants me to beg. He wants me to grovel. Well, fuck that.

I look him straight in the eye and say 'Mmmmmm...nah, can't think of anything mate, its up to you, your call'

His face dropped and his grin disappeared. I think I possibly just gained entry into the mining hall of fame. He quickly gathered himself and with a slightly stunned look said "Yeah, well, um, nah, I'm not gonna sack ya'.

I dont think I've ever been so disappointed to not get fired. Got a first and final written for my troubles and a lot of laughs from the boys.

Finished day shift, did my full week of nights. Rained all week which means planes cant land, planes dont land means you dont fly out, dont fly out means you in a very shitty mood. Two shifts to go I knew no plane would be landing. Luckily a mate had missed the flight up and had driven. With one shift to go I organised my contingency plan, to drive the 500kms to sweet freedom and a week off.

Heres what I'm up to on my week off.

Since I started following boxing last year after nearly a decade away, I've started collecting fights again. Heres my current collection.

Roughly 100 DVDs in each drawer and some that I bought they came with covers. Around 220 in total and funnily enough only 2 of those, the green 5 disc pack and the Harding fight are the only ones I've bought from a shop.

With this years tax return I sent through a big order to the UK, luckily while the Aus dollar was still healthy. They finally arrived last week. This is them.

Roughly another 160 discs with one package of 10 AWOL and apparantly some more due any day. Also notice the fantastic signed jumper in the background there.

So now comes the fun part of labelling and cataloging, luckily I have no life so this will be a highlight of my week.

Up to a couple of thousand fights now which I know is still well short of some peoples. One thing I've noticed is, theres always a certain fight you're either missing or after, theres always a few pieces missing.

Really:huh Thats baffling.

I think if anything it shows how weak the division is when a guy who couldn't cut it at Light heavy, and really only won his belt due to it being a weak division at the time can go up and be a major force.

Guys like Mormeck and Bell are very average, technically poor as far as comparing them to other world class fighters go.

Haye was the only real talent that has been there for years. Guys like Guillemero Jones and Wayne Braithewait were at the top for a while, i think that says a lot about the division personally. These guys are woeful fighters to be considered among the best in the division.

You look at the talent of guys like Dawson, Calzaghe, Kessler and Hopkins etc etc.... Genuine p4p talent in the surrounding divisions. Then look at the guys at cruiser. BIG difference.

I actually think this division is weaker then the heavily criticised heavyweight div.

Guys like Povetkin and Eddie Chambers are leagues above these guys in terms of their skill sets.

I've done a cruise before, had a good time. Mine was fully paid for with a bar tab though by the olds haha, so that kind of helped.

The thing that ruins it is all the bloody pensioners and children. Not enough people on there between the ages of 18-30 (not enough good looking girls especially!!)

Still i had a heap of fun but, it is what you make of it. I was in the nightclub every single night, dancing my arse off, drinking like no tomorrow. I'm pretty outgoing as well, so i managed to meet heaps and heaps of people, some that i'm still friends with now in Brisbane.

A lot of time spent relaxing but, just chilling out in the pool and on the deck. THe best part is you eat like a king. MASSIVE buffet breakfast and lunch then eating at a restaurant every single night. I was stuffed full of food the whole time i was there!

The valley is pretty small, but once you know your way around there are some cool spots, that you would probably miss otherwise. Its always interesting to see such a strange collection of people all in one place. Emo's, fags, ravers, yobbos, older city crowd, indie/house kids etc etc etc... Definitely an eye opener walking through the main mall at 2am on a saturday night haha.

I dont really remember but there was some bar at the top of the hill that was pretty classy...then another bar down the road that was open air and had tables out on the mall.

It was raining and fairly quiet apparently, though it seemed packed. I got moved along from that area by the coppers.

Nearly got into a fight with these group of indigenous fellows..looked like the whole family was out, they were baiting us..But the oldest of the group, that looked like the dad, tried to settle it down and we just walked off..Not like Redfern kooris, it would have been on without hesitation if we were in Sydney, so maybe lucky for us.

We went out for my mate's bday..and he was pretty sick, so we ended up chilling at his place in the end, calling it a night pretty early.

Enjoyed it though..will probably be back late in Feb to go visit him again.
