Lidl are selling some compact satellite dish and receiver sets next week for £29.99.

These can pick up RTL and a few other german channels on 13E and 19.2E. They will show the Wlad fight free to air as well as all the german cards Setanta show. Far cheaper than paying Setanta £10 a month (unless you are on the 3 month deal mentioned in another thread). RTL also showed the Hatton PBF fight so well worth buying for £29.99.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Comes with a 3 year warranty as well. So cheaper and longer enjoyment than you would get in half an hour with a Russian prostitute.

Don't think Setanta will be around in 3 months time or possibly even a months time.

Things are not looking good for them.

No idea how their current situation will affect the Haye vs Wlad fight

Gpater11093,

The offer does not start till the 8th June so please dont send your dad on a wasted journey. No way of getting US Tv using this system. You can pick some up with other systems but they do not show much boxing. TBH you soon get bored of all the channels on fancy system, there is only so much porn you can watch. I think there is ESPN but I never found much to watch on that.

I doubt it will affect the Haye fight, he has signed the contract and his promo company should have insurance in place as a contingency in case Setanta go tits up.

Yes I started with one of these and have a fancy dreambox 7025+ now which is like a sky+ box but with a lot more goodies built in...like being able to share a S"Y card with others in same house or over the internet. This is a nice starter kit. Just look at which way neighbours sky dishes are pointed and point your dish that way...connect it all up and go into the setup menu and use the satfinder to fine tune the satellite signal. You also have to rotate the LNB to get the skew spot on. When it has good signal on the meter turn the dish to the left (as you face the dish) with the satellite in the receiver set to 19.2E. It will soon lock on and hey presto you can get RTL etc etc. Any problems post on this thread and I will try and guide you through setup process. It might take an hour or so to setup initially but then you get the hang of it and takes less than 10 minutes.

Language - the german channels broadcast in german but you can just turn on radio 5 for the haye fight.

I would go for a Dreambox or the technomate linux receiver if you want US channels. You can pick up a motorised dish on ebay for £100 or so. I used to pick up US channels brpadcast in Europe like Fox, Fox 2, HBO, HBO2, HBO comedy, AXN etc etc. I used to share someones card in Europe so all free. Not shared a card for a while now. One of the Czech channels shows all the big fights and is open using patches/keys which you can d/l off the internet from satellite forums. I just wanted RTL so a dish pointing at 19.2E was ok for me.

When i stayed in Poland with my girlfriends parents, Polsat sport showed all the big fights, so if you can get that it would be pretty sweet

do you get HBO for free here

kurt2006

HBO is not free, if you have the right receiver (dreambox) and say a £50 porn card then you might find someone on the continent to share their subscription card with you which given you HBO. The european HBO does not show any boxing though.

I had Sports Italia on a card share as well. The Italian Sky sports show lots more than what we get in the UK on our Sky sports.

First time it might be pain but once you know which way to point it then it should be ok.
