Of course he can. Trinidad is a big guy and it's not like Jones has the best whiskers in the business.

I'd be more worried about whether or not he can hit Jones at all. He could hardly throw a single punch against Winky Wright.

no doubt. Tito has to carry up some power.

IMO. No. I dont think the extra 10lbs is going to help him carry that good of power.

IMO. No. I dont think the extra 10lbs is going to help him carry that good of power.i don't think you need that good power. just to land a clean shot. roy has twice the skills though so there is some doubt if tito will land anything.

Anyone can land a clean shot, its happened to Jones before, but you have to have some good power. And I doubt Tito will carry it up to 170 + he'll be weighing 180 on fight night most likely.

Of course he can hurt Roy, but don't hold your breath.

I think Tito can, but maybe in the sense that if he hits Jones cleanly or hits him as a counter.

But glancing blows won't do too much damage on Jones.

if he can hit him flush, imo roy goes down. at this point in time his chin is grade a china.

Well let's see...two old shot fighters who were formerly great pawing away at each other.

The question isn't whether or not one can hurt the other, but who the hell would pay to watch them try?

No question without a doubt..Tito still has his punch technique and Roy is not some iron chinned 170 pound guy. One good clean shot Roy will have to come to grips with his weak chin..thats pretty much his only weakness. Every fighter has one.

If Tito can bench at least 340 then yes! :D ;)

If Tito can catch Roy with a shot that he doesn't see coming - then Yes. But Roy has been fighting the bigger guys all his career and he's been active over the last couple of years. So, it's going to be hard for Tito to really do some damage to Roy.

It depends on Tito if he still has power on that weight.

it depends if tito can illegally wrap his hands still.

Of course he can. Why would he take this fight otherwise? I mean, if he can't hurt jones than good night tito.

There were plenty of lt heavies that caught Jones flush yet he never went down ..And since Tito has yet to have a KO above 160 it will be easier said than done !

For Tito to KO Jones it will have to be an acumilation of punches ! And since Tito can't catch a moving target flush I highly doubt it will happen !

Why is this now the popular perception? Everyone acts like Roy hasn't fought since Tarver 3. IMO, Roy was likely still suffering from his intial KO by Tarver when he fought Johnson and this seems to be unforgivable in the eyes of most of the posters here.

Post-concussive syndrome can last (PCS) can last from months to years following an initial injury (Gouvier et al., 1992). Most studies suggest that approximately 15% of these individuals will continue to report symptoms one year post-injury (Satz et al., 1999). I cite to the journal articles here to avoid making it sound like I am making excuses for Roy.

Henshaw and Ajamu hit Roy plenty of times in his last two fights and he wasn't wobbled. While neither guy is Sonny Liston, they both had some pop; certainly more than enough to KO a "china chin." This tells me that Roy is probably over the effects of those two earlier KOs and his chin is either where it was before Tarver or pretty close to that place. That is not to say that his legs aren't half of where they were in Roy's prime, but his handspeed and power seem relatively well preserved.

I think this is a colossally stupid match (I much would have preferred Dawson, but Roy isn't fighting for hard won/no-money titles anymore, I suppose) from a fight fan standpoint, but I can't see how anyone, based on Johnson and Tarver, would give Tito a snowball's chance in hell of pulling this off based on Roy's chin.

Anyone who thinks Jones has a glass jaw is an idiot !

He took ten times more flush shots in his 1st fight w/Tarver than his fights w/Johnson and the 2 other fights against Tarver ..Henshaw and Amaju caught him flush as well ...And lets not forget the flush shot he took from Ruiz ..Its a new level of ignorance with fight fans of today !

Yeah ! Why would anyone say Roy has no chin . He only got knocked out twice in a row . I don't know why anyone would have that idea . It's a total mystery !

Again the first guy to knock him out fought him 3 time there was only 1 ko !!

The 2nd came after he first lost by KO mentally he wasn't there but he's had fights since then with out getting dropped ..Maybe its a mystery to the uneducated folks !!

:patsch

Your just rationalizing it ! You know what that means ?:good

Tito can hurt anyone under 175 if he lands flush...but RJJ has only been hurt by lt. heavyweights, so i can't see Tito doing it...RJJ will win easily...
