View Full Version : Amir Khan's huge talk

FLINT ISLAND

*The quotes below are not word for word accurate but the basic message of them is what he said - and has not been twisted in any way.

After winning the Olympic Silver Medal

"I want the Gold Medal - I am staying on amateur until the 2008 Olympic Games for the Gold"

As a novice pro

"I decided to turn pro - I'd rather be a World Champion than a Olympic Champion - I want to be the youngest British World Champion ever - win the World title quicker than Naz did at 21 years old"

Still a novice pro

"I could beat Floyd Mayweather (the current pound for pound NO 1) over 4 rounds now"

Still a novice pro appearing on the front of ring magazine

"I want to be the new Floyd Mayweather from England"

Still not a World Champion

"I want to be a 3 time World Champion and pound for pound one of the worlds best fighters"

Still not a World Champion

"After I'm through with the boxing career (which is going to include mutliple world titles and pound for pound status) I wont mind becoming a Hollywood film star"

................................................................................................

Alot of big talk there

Amir Khan is a talented kid

And he still has plenty of time to achieve lots in his career

However talk is very cheap and none of these claims have been realised yet

Will any of them come true? :think

when was khan on the cover of the ring?

AGES AGO

"I WANT TO BE THE NEW FLOYD MAYWEATHER FROM ENGLAND"

I thought that was one of the worst covers ever in RING magazine history

Its a monthly mag

Only the real best should grace that cover

And this hype job was comparing himself to the best pound for pound fighter in the world

:-(

What was he supposed to say, Flint he was in a position already regarding winning the Silver. By position i mean, people, general fans, new fans and im sure avid fans expected big things, and rightfully so.

Im sure many fighters good and bad have desires and dreams and ideas of beating the best, yes even the p4p champion.

Dosent seem right you doing Khan threads like these, waste of ya talents, mucho prefero ya Enzo and Shed ones.

Anyways

Flint you know your boxing, but taking cheap shots at Khan is too easy .. Nobody on here thinks Khan is any good so your kind of preaching to the converted ..

I respect your views on boxing, so what i'd really like from you is an unbiased critique on Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe .. People say these 2 are great because that is the 'general opinion' and people are afraid to go against the grain .. But when you analyse the career's of Lewis and Calzaghe, they can be totally exposed .... Flint, if you dont do a 'Critical analysis' on these 2 then i will in the next few days ..

Criticism of Khan is way too easy, he's nothing, anybody who knows anything about boxing knows at some point he'll be ko'd, so taking shots at him is meaningless ..

Calzaghe's career will always be debated, but to say Lewis's career can be "totally exposed" is rather baffling, to be honest.

Please do a "critical analysis" of Lennox Lewis, I believe this would make interesting reading!

I don't that Amir Khan means any harm. He's a very talented fighter that happens to possess a pea-sized brain that comes up with incredibly stupid statements.

He's very young of course he is going to talk some shit but I would be very suprised if he dosent win a world title.

Media surrounds him too much I think that is the big problem. Roach should tell him to keep it shut.

This is the key point :deal

Its Naseem Hamed all over again - but with less substance.

At least Naz was the real deal - Naz was a top pound for pound fighter in his prime.

But the talk from him was winning world titles all the way up to middleweight and retiring uundefeated in more than 50 fights.

Allah willing of course

But Allah didnt grant the wish

And Naz never even fought beyond Featherweight

Let alone KO Oscar De La Hoya in 4 rounds in a WBC World Light Middleweight Title fight :rofl

Naz even wanted to fight Nigel Benn for his WBC World Title fight after he beat Gerlad McCllellan :nut

There was a bit of a feud going on at the time between Benn and Naz

Basically Benn disliked Naz and was having digs at him - clash of ego.

Audley Harrison was the last hype job talking huge things

I agree - Khan is so stupid - thats why he talks shit - he is quite thick

I know lots of people dont rate him as the real deal

He does have a decent chance of winning a world title - because he is talented quick and accurate

however all that talk - I was just pointing out what a big head he is :yep

Joe Calzaghe is considered a "great" on this forum? Not from what I've read, anyone who tries to offer a fair critique in the favour of Joe gets labelled a nut hugger. The problem with you saying you want him to write an "unbiased" post about Joe is that you're already leading him down the path you want him to choose, trying to take away the legitimacy of any reply he makes against you (if he choose to do so). Now don't get me wrong, I think Calzaghe was "great" but not a legend because of his lack of resume and I believe nobody can argue otherwise against an undefeated champion of boxing.

As for Lennox Lewis, well he is my second favourite fighter of all time so I can't give an unbiased view.

This is why he doesn't have a huge fan base. Because lets face it, he's done absolutely fuck all to merit some of the pish that spews out his mouth.

Have you read Benn's book? He has a few choice words for Hamed. Says he threatened him at the brit awards & said something along the lines of "I'll punch you up into the air, you little shit."

Running your mouth generally will just get you in trouble unless you are a genuine prophet who can fufil his prophecies.

Khan should shut his mouth and perform.

Personally I like it when fighters run their mouth. Gives us something to talk about. Gets me excited. Some of us love em, some of us hate em.

Khans just a young kid who doesn't think much before he speaks.
