I think its time to distinguish between the HARDCORE boxing fan and the MMA Boxing fan.

Many guys are stating that tactical fights are boring - not pleasing to the eye and needs more excitement. So that brings up the question are you a MMA\Boxing fan or a Hardcore Boxing fan?

Because Hardcore fans like me actually enjoy very technical, competitive fights. Then again I've been into boxing almost all my life.

The Hardcore boxing fan - can tolerate a tactical fight - perfect execution of the sweet science. If someone gets KTFO - its only adds icing on the cake. But a KO isn't necessary or even required to get excited about what's happening in the ring.

The MMA\boxing fan - needs excitement constantly - otherwise its boring. They seem to require a KO, a knock down or something to get them yelling in the crowd or at the TV. A highly technical chess match in the ring drives them out of their minds and frustrates them to the point that they feel cheated by the lack of action.

Which type of Fan are you???????

BOTH.

MMA has more going on.. stand up strikes; punches, kicks, elbows, spinning back fist.. on the mat; wrestling and submissions.Ju jitsu, boxing, muay thai..it's the ultimate.

I think the idea of this thread was to insult people who appreciate the human bravado, guts and warrior attributes of boxing more than the beautiful technical wizardry of it.

You CAN like both. There isn't a rule book as to what constitues a boxing fan. Let's not be elitist about something so trivial.

Dude!!!!

I don't know how on earth you came up with that:nut But, by all means, run with it.

Clearly there exists a distinction between the two - If your mentality assumes it to be an insult, to state the facts that separate two distinct elements, then it is you who has the problem - not those who also recognize the divide.

Well im a hardcore boxing fan but I do respect MMA there fighters train hard and fight in front of a crowd as well. I don't much care for ground fighting when they just dry hump eachother till the end of the round they kind of lay on eachother and take a breather it's like clinching in boxing it's part of the sport but it's boring to watch. Basically I'll always prefer a tactical boxing match to a great wrestling match a slugfest to a rear naked double anal penetration.

i'm a full out boxing fan. I enjoy every aspect of it. Speed, heart, chin, power, technique, defence, offence, footwork and more.

I even enjoy clinching sometimes. I thought Berto vs Urango was a good fight ffs

Thing is I like watching the best fighters. Watching live I preferred Vasquez vs Marquez but on replay for me its Pac vs JMM all day every day know what I mean?

Totally agree I always hate the undercards get so sick of watching prospects destroy tomato cans ...yeah don't rush them but do I really need to see them destroy 20 nobody's in a row over the course of 3-5 in a half years before they fight a real fighter.

Whatever the hell you are talking about.

90% of the time MMA ends up on the ground and it gets real boring from that point on.....

I watch it, I love boxing and I would take Muy Thai and K1 over MMA any day of the weak.

I have yet to witness anything in sports that comes close or even compares to a Boxing megafight. The energy and atmosphere is soo thick you can cut it with a knife. The people are frantic, on the edge of their seats and once the opening bell sounds its just like foreplay leading to climax.

Nothing comes close!!!!

We need an option for fans that understand the subtleties of boxing and MMA. How many of you can appreciate a slick boxer like Pernell Whitaker and a skilled jiujitsuan like Minotauro Noguiera?

I'm unclear about why this thread was placed in the MMA section of a Boxing forum when it clearly denotes both. :patsch

I guess the logic is that anything with MMA in the title belongs in the MMA section. ....... My Mistake I guess.

Yep. We get all sorts of bullshit threads get sent over from the general boxing forum. If it has MMA in the title it's gonna be moved.

MMA does the same, difference is MMA fans are just so gullible that they believe they are competitive.

I'll second that. This is where UFC is excellent, and it's definitely a contributing factor in their success.
The attitude in boxing seems to be that they don't want to give the fans too much on one card. We're supposed to be happy with the just main event.

The UFC dont have much choice. They are the PROMOTION of course. Where as all boxers are individual entities who work with a promoter(s). Its actually better this way economically for the fighters. The UFC's model just lines there pockets at the fighters expense. And i havent seen a stacked UFC card in a while.
