There should be one satelite channel dedicated to boxing.

There would be if there was any possibility of such an entity making anything other than a huge loss.

You would of hope if Setanta were still about they would get the Hennesey deal. I think this will be the end of boxing on terrestrial TV, to be fair I am not that fussed. I have come to realise Setanta and Sky have the cash to make bigger fights and I will always have those channels anyway.

Bad news for the regular punter who can't afford cable or satellite.

dark days ahead ....think the way forward will be live streaming.

pathmanc1986

surely thats the way forward then

high quality ppv streams for domestic and international cards

if someone could set up a fight website and snap up any cards that arent going to be on tv if setanta and itv split the scenes that would be great

I think ITV do boxing well, I like there coverage and commentators etc. It would be the absolute pits if ITV4 do not renew their contract too. Feel bad for Froch, it was criminal that ITV didnt take on his last fight with Taylor.

Someone needs to sort out the business model of PPV internet streaming at modest prices, there has to be an opportunity there, especially for small hall events.

There's a wide open market waiting to be tapped into, but I wonder how much money there's in it.

What a shit day for British boxing this is turning out to be.

Haye gets injured
ITV not going to renew the Hennessy deal

What next, Audley to replace Haye as Wlad's opponent?

I think so, there is internet radio shows as well as well as a ton of media/entertainment businesses creaming it online, someone should try to make it happen, there isnt enough coverage of the sweet science.

I'm gutted, I was initially sceptical over the standard of cards the Hennessey would provide for ITV but theres been some pretty decent nights of boxing.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'd got into a great little routine of a Chinese takeaway, cans of lager and watching the fights with my laptop on my knee discussing things on ESB!!

Yes, but unfortunately one that's easy to believe.

ITV's yo-yoing is frustrating. It'll be very sad to return to the dark ages of no boxing on domestic tv yet again.

Some of the Hennesy cards are the best I have seen stacked up on a show for a long time... some really good competative contests....

The Froch v Pascal card at the Trent FM Arena was a belter :happy:happy
