Kid Gavilan, Carmen Basilio, Jose Napoles???????
I have all three of them between 25-40.....finding it hard to figure out just where???? It's conundrums and close calls like this that have prevented me from making my own 'definitive' all-time P4P top 100
BY THE WAY AND PLEASE NOTE; MY LISTS ARE POST-WAR.....so go from there please.

Thanks for your input. Is that just post-war Dinamita?
I'd be intrigued to see your top 50 or top 100. I gave you a top 20 ages ago, but it's changed so much since then. Mind you it changes a wee bit every single day :rofl

Anyone else? I think everyone will have a different opinion, especially in splitting Napoles/gavilan.

I posted a top 100 last year. If I wrote another one, it would have changed since then without doubt, off the top of my head I can think of people I placed too high (Roy Jones, George Foreman), people that I included that I wouldn't again (Joe Calzaghe) and people I would maybe include this time (Qawi and/or JM Marquez).
I'll send you the link to that thread tomorrow by PM :good

napoles is a guy to need to be in the same bracket to be in the top 50...JMM could do that with a win over PBF

Gavilan and Basilio are over Napoles imo.
Basilio is very underrated if people are putting him in the top 80.
At the LEAST he should be top 30 imo.
Not many people does what Basilio did over coming bad calls, standed up to the mob, ete. and getting and winning a title shot.
I still think that Basilio won the very close fight with Gavilan, Also wins over Demarco, Robinson, and Saxton are Basilio's most known fights.
Was robbed vs Chuck Davy also.

And may the Basilio be with you.
Why do most people have Carman hanging near the bottom of the 100. He is top 30.
Welterweight and Middleweight champ, in a era with one title in each divison.
Has a big win over Robinson who was king of the middleweights, 2 great brawls with Demarco, and that epic clash with Gavilan.

I'd have Basilio higher if I thought he beat Gavilan, but I had Gavilan taking it, and I thought Basilio lost the first fight to Langlois as well, which is not too much of a drawback given that Carmen was quite outsized.
