With all the big name fights coming in the next few months, its inevitable that one (or more) of the fighters which is highly respected in the boxing world is going to take a dive.

I expect many posters will respond with Hatton. However, word out of Pacs camp is that he is not focused, Kessler for all we know could be another Lacy, Mosely could show his age, Taylors heart may not be in boxing anymore while Pavlick could be too crude for this level.... you get the point.

So in the next couple months someone is losing some name recognition, who is it?

Jermain Taylor
Ricky Hatton

Those are the two I'm confident that we will see their stock fall

I'm not sure about Mosley, Cotto, Calzaghe, Kessler, Barrera, or Pacquiao yet.

Pains me to say but it will be Hatton. I hope it isn't, but I think PBF is going to win.

If you were a smart man you would bet on PBF, just some words of wisdom:good

I don't think Hatton's stock should fall if he loses to PBF. He is the underdog.....hell, he could lose, put on a good show and his stock go up.

Yup, I can agree with this. Both Hatton and Taylor look like they're setting up for a big loss, and it's not just the fact that they'll lose, it's the fact that they both have so many detractors that a loss will be very devastating to their standing in the boxing community.

I'm not too sure Pac's stock will fall too much if he does lose. iImean people will want to smack him senseless for not preparing himself for the fight the right way but fans would also recognize that he lost to an ATG fighter and he'll rebound from it very quickly IMO.

No way, he would have lost to a far past his best ATG fighter. Pacman cannot afford to lose this fight to MAB. Not after losing to a past it Morales. And especially not after beating a far better version of MAB and his fans saying that Pacman is a better fighter now than he was then.

Cotto

After azucar KO's him doubts about his chin will arise and people will begin saying margo, williams, and cintron KO Cotto at WW.

If Pac loses to MAB, he would be 3-2-1 vs. Marquez, Barrera, and Morales. Only a .500 winning percentage. I think he needs to win this fight.

MAB is not that far past his best, he's not a shot fighter by any means. The man has already proven that he's still an elite guy plus Manny doesn't have a huge amount of detractors, and he'd still be an elite guy even if he lost. So his stock wouldn't take a complete nose dive. It'd fall a bit, but the number 2 p4p fighter in the world wouldn't get completely dropped off the radar after only one loss. Plus he already has the added in excuse of not being completely focused for this fight and that can actually work in his favor if he were to lose.

I think MAB is far past his best, and anyone who saw him fight in the early to mid 90's could not compare this version to the Prime MAB. Just because he is better than the fighters he has faced, doesn't make him prime.

No one said he's in his prime. He's a truly great fighter who still has something left in him. Having a fighter of his caliber beat you is not all that bad in the great scheme of things, especially when you're a top fighter like Manny is. One loss doesn't erase all the great things that Pac has already accomplished.

Nor have I said it would. I think MAB is far past his prime. My opinion has never changed. MAB was at the tail end of his prime when he beat Hamed IMO. He is far past it IMO even if he isn't shot. He is no where near the same fighter.

This is a thread about fighters stock falling, not their accomplishments being erased. Pacmans stock falls if he loses to an aged fighter he has already beaten. And if he is ill prepared, that looks even worse because it would be of his own doing.

Pac's stock would fall but no way would it fall as far as others mentioned here like Taylor for example. Fact is even if he does lose he wouldn't take as big a dive in the rankings as you might think. The guy would still be a top 10 p4p fighter... and the loss wouldn't be seen as Manny losing to a past his prime fighter, the loss would be seen more as an ATG performance by an ATG fighter in Barrera.

Also the not coming in prepared thing is already a built in excuse that fans would use to excuse the loss. So while some would hate him for being badly prepared, others would see it as a legit excuse and they wouldn't completely write him off because the belief that he would have done better had he come in top shape would still keep their hopes alive ifa a rubber match were to materialize.

We will have to agree to disagree. :good

Hatton stock will fall a little but it depends he could just up and retire from boxing if he loses to PBF.

Taylor is close fight to call and i just dont know which way to go i mean if he comes in ready to fight he will win but if he comes in like he did against Spinks he could get TKO'd.

Hatton more than Taylor because the Taylor fight will be close i feel and even if its close and he loses he will get a automatic rematch.

Hatton will be the one i think.

Pavlik's all hype. I won't be suprised in Jermain Taylor disposes of this guy in 5.

Pac wii beat MAB (retire him)
Taylor will beat Pavlik (probably by KO) Taylor' stock , up. Pavlik's down.
Mosley will beat Cotto (Mosley's, up. Cotto's, slightly down)
Mayweather will beat Hatton. ( His stock will rise, hattons down slightly)
Iggy will beat Holy (retire him, unless he's already brain-damaged)
Mayorga will beat Vargas (Neither guys stock will change much)
Vitali will beat McCline (sending him into retirement or obscurity)
Calzafge will beat Kessler (securing his position as second best ever at 168)

Maskaev - Peter Too close to call

Then again, I might be wrong on some of these. We'll know in the next 14 weeks.
