Naz had a rubbish camp. Everything he does in training looks power orientated. Its just a mess. The training was like Rocky v Drago with MAB being Rocky.

I HAD NO DOUBT YEARS BEFORE THAT BARERRA AND CO WERE ABOVE HIM. NAZ LOOKED BETTER THAN EVER A FEW MONTH BEFORE THIS FIGHT WHEN HE FOUGHT BUNGU. HIS DEFENCE AND BALANCE WAS BETTER TAHN EVER

No excuses here.

It was a horrible camp - FACT!

Good camp or not, Naz loses. Naz always loses to MAB unless he makes technical adjustments.

The first clip of Naz training is him bombing away on a SPEED BAG!
Then he bombs away on the heavy bag and the pads.
Then he describes the sweet science as him wanting to find an opening to knock someone out.
Then his sparring shows him moronically trying to knock his opponents out.
Then Steward says he wasn't happy with how Naz looks and this is three weeks out.
Then he talks non stop about knocking MAB out.
Then he talks about how everyone can be ko'd.

The video speaks for itself.

i think he had alot of desire but it wasnt the desire like the years before.

and like achillies said it's power orientated while marco was doing combo's and speed drills while naz was throwing booming one hit punches. a real shame his speed is what made him a great fighter

what's your point, every fighter says he is in the best shape, but very rarely is.

I couldn't believe at the time and still can't believe now, that people picked naz with such certainty to win this fight. I picked Marco and was ridiculed, even on sky Glenn McCrory was the only analyst to pick Marco and the others looked at him like he was stupid.

MAB was thought to be there to be hit by Naz's power. I'll admit I picked Naz...

Yeah and you are the same guy who started a thread saying that Hamed was not a big puncher.
Clearly your ignorance and bias paid off once. I doubt it is something that will prove to be lucrative in the long run.:good

his punches never hurt barerra. GREAT IS A WORD USED TOO MUCH NOWDAYS.

i NEVER SAID THAT NAZ COULD'T HKIT. Naz was a very good puncher but he never proved himself great PUNCHER LIKE MOORE OLIVARES, HEARNS AND CO. he needed a ko victory over a barera or a marquez or morales to prove it

Watching that it makes you glad he was trounced by Barrera, he had well and truly disappeared up his own arse by the looks of it. Its scandelous the way he trained for a fighter such as Marco. In my opinion if he had a better attitude he COULD have became the greatest featherweight of all time like Manny Steward said. As someone already said its amazing how Steward changed his tune after the first day, he clearly knew Prince Naseem was going to get beat.

Its true. He didn't respect his opponent given the way he trained and as silly as it sounds, he didn't deserve to win.

Credit where credit due though, it was a technical battle from MABs standpoint. He boxed beautifully, he kept a good defence, he brawled when needed and he was the only man out of many good fighters, contenders and champs to truly exploit Nazs flaws.

He could of been a great fighter if A manny steward trained him from the start but that brendan ingle got hold of him a give him a unique style (that he could pull off well) but was limited to a certain level. his good punch helped him through a lot of fights against the decent fighters he fought

Doubt it. It was the Ingle style that got him to where he was. After his spat with Ingle things went downhill.

Manny's overrated and just spouts crap these days.

He's good with tall fighters but thats It.

Ingle trained Naz since he was 7 or 8 and It was foolish to leave Ingle as no one else could train that style.

Agree. Leaving his trainer was a big mistake and contributed to his ultimate downfall.

Was he trained by members of his family once he left Ingle?

INGLES STYLES HAS ITS LIMITS. HEROL GRAHAM FAILED AT THE TOP LEVEL AND SO DID NAZ

Hamed had the punch, good speed, heart and a good chin. with the right tuition he could of been a much more formidible fighter. He may not have been as unique to watch with a more polished style

When he fought the likes of kevin kelly, sanchez and medina (ALL STILL GOOD FIGHTERS), naz couldn't do any fancy shit. he had to use his speed and power to get through

I just recall his family being heavily involved in his boxing career -
after Barry Hearn and Frank ****** I think he was managed by his brother.

Naz's magic 5

1. KO7 Robinson (pretty much flawless display against a good champion)
2. KO2 Enrique Angeles (Awesome punch picking, power and defence)
3. KO5 Freddy Cruz (as above Naz at his finest)
4. KO4 Vuyani Bungu (His best performance after becoming a champion and in my eyes a bit of a fluke as he had already declined significantly)
5. KO2 Juan Polo Perez (just amazing)

Naz peaked and should have stayed at super bantam- the Robinson victory should have been a pit stop at featherweight. People think that the Naz that fought Barrera was the real Naz- it wasn't.... Naseem had become lazy and over reliant on his one shot power.

The Naz that beat the likes of Angeles and Cruz would have given even Barrera fits and I am a massive Barrera fan. He went from an athletic, explosive boxer-puncher to a flat footed pot shotter.

Its a shame we never got to see how good he really was.
