If Tony Ayala went down to 147. How would he have done against Welterweight kingpin Cuevas for the WBA Title? Sparring is one thing, but this would be for the World Championship. 15 rounds. Prime for both.

Cuevas was a proven champion.Ayala is a big what if? I take the proven champ Cuevas.

Of course, he did get the better of Cuevas in sparring at only 14. But at 19-20, he was a full 154.

But if he went back down to 147...are you suggesting Tony should weaken himself to make this fair?

Tony did have some baby fat, but he was also thickly built, with true MW strength and power. Even if Tony could make down to 147 without becoming weaker, I think he brutally finishes off Cuevas in 3 rounds. He could only be that much improved and stronger at 19-20 years old.
