throws his punches? They're so damn compact, both his straight punches and his hooks - and so they get to their target quickly despite his average handspeed. He mixes them up so well as well. Head-body-head. Body-body-head.
It's just beautiful. :happy

Adore is a bit strong AL. I immediately think of the word gay on its use.
'Like' would be a bit more suitable.

No no, I adore it. So it sounds gay, I can live with that :yep
Yes, the only thing I don't adore is the way he stands square on while throwing some of them.

:good He'd get better leverage if he wasn't square on all the time. It'd give him an extra little boost in power, which with his accuracy, could make him a very good fighter indeed.

I think the board will punish Murray and not allow him to fight for the vacant title. Henry Castle Vs Limond for the vacant title. If Willie ever needed to call a guy out its now.... or at least demand a shot.
All the best:good

cheers jeff, you know your stuff and realise willie deserves a shot against anybody it wouldn't bother him, then we'd gladly give john a shot even though he's not done likewise! BN.

yep agree 100%,moves his head more and doesn't stand square on like he dus,he wud have more power, and not get hit as much,
personally i don't think he has it in him though,if he aint done it yet he aint gonna change much now,and he will come unstuck against world class opponents:good

he takes a surprising amount of punches i think, he needs to address that as he moves up in level,

I really liked Murray v Lawton. He came in good shape and fought at a high pace. An average fighter would end up going to the cards v Lawton but Murray didn't let up and eventually got the stoppage.

He's more than shown enough to warrant a fight with Khan. Both fighters have shown class in and out of the ring and are a credit to the UK.

Khan will never fight Murray unless Murray looks bad in a fight or loses. Khan is, financially speaking, a level above Murray. Even if I don't think Murray would have lost to any of the guys Khan's faced.
Really enjoyed the fight though - was worried about Murray weight draining, but good lord he's strong, isn't he?

Really nice combinations that seem to increase in speed the more punches he throws.
He sort of looks slowish but I think he's deceptively quick esp when he gets inside.....if that makes sense. takes too many though for me.

I actually thought Lawton threw the nicer looking punches.
I thought Murray looked ok , but I reckon Khan would be too good. Murray doesnt seem to hit as hard as had been advertised.

The BBBoC would only be punishing the fans. We don't need yet another delay to Thaxton-Murray. The failure to make this fight is embarrassing for British boxing.
I broadly agree, but you cannot allow fighters to be able to ride roughshod over regulations without fear of sanction. By all means let Thaxton and Murray get it on but why does it have to be for the British title?...the fight would generate enough interest without the belt being at stake.

Wern't the commentators acusing him of doing a lot of arm punching? I don't love his style, fun to watch but I can't see how he can get far the way he just comes forward, he does so with less caution than Hatton at times.

I don't and I also think that as much as I like Murray and his style- he shouldn't get a straight shot at the title otherwise what would be the point of stripping him? Limmond and Castle are both long overdue title shots, I think the winner of Murray-Thaxton Vs the winner of Limond-Castle would be a good TV fight.

Watched him fight/spar for over three years now. Starts slowly at times, but as someone mentioned the more shots he throws the faster he gets. Seen him rattle off 8-10 shots in sparring when he gets warmed up. I think he is coming close to the point where he will put absolutely everything together, and people will take even more notice of him.
Tough nut, one of the toughest fighters around.Who does he spar with Terry?

i believe it'd take the british title to get thaxton in there. thaxton has 1 more british title win and he gets a belt for keeps.
thaxton and murray are easily 1 and 2 in britain so it would be a damn shame if there was another reason for this not to happen. why have #1 v #2 when you can have #1 v #5 etc - this is what pisses me off about boxing, the mileage you can get out of titles by having the big questions avoided.
also, if murray doesn't batter thaxton, then thaxton will always be in his way on the euro scene for example.

it's just sunk in: a positive thread on John Murray!
3 British level stoppage wins and he's no longer scum.
A few more fights over the past couple of years and he could have been on his way to minor stardom already.

Scroll down a bit Jeffro for BBBoC stuff from my perspective, sorry for late post but was typing that out. Think they cannot prevent him, not if they want to be fair and consistent, so yeah, think he may get a ban, the board being the board.
Castle-Limond does not excite like Murray-Thaxton, and ITV may not want it topping a bill without a title. Maybe Willie can toss aside the WBU strap :good
Fine, strip, that should be enough.
Sparring, Mosley, Hatton, Truscott, Meager, Lawton, Reid, Joe Murray, Gomez, Brodie, Andy Morris, and lots more. Will send you a longer list to Facebook!
Good to see you the other night mate, wasn't being rude by dashing off, my first show in a while so was out-of-sorts. You going Blackpool? Course mate... i'll def be there. Its ok... your a high flier now Terry- don't expect you to waste your time with minions like myself.
Good luck with your article this week in Boxing News pal. If its anything like your usual stuff it will be excellent
