This fight is a 99% done deal:deal
Danny is going to fight on the undercard of the Lacey rjj bout august 22nd.
I just hope RJJ doesn't run into Jeffs left hook:hey
If all goes to plan the fight will take place in Melbourne late november .

Roy really is taking the easy road these days for the money (and u can't blame him i suppose).............. He'll easily outpoint both Lacy and Green.

Hey leftjab, wasn't Green/Adamek a 100% deal before, as well as Green Tarver?
Your sources are shit mate, no offence, and even if both parties are in agreement, I could quite easily see Jones opting to go another way before November, and I could also Green opting out of it as well.

I could see Roy losing too...he is absolute toast. Truth be told he is still a somewhat capable figther but a mere shell of his best.

Jeff is pretty shopworn himself though...This fight is a little intriguing giving there level of shitness these days but I wont be watching it..it would be like two lame beasts going at it.

green v adamek, that's a new one?
heard the same left jab, let's just hope it happens.
cumdine can talk about big fights, at least green makes them happen.

Sorry but can you please remind me what big fights Danny Green has had ? And don't say Mundine or an old Beyer, they are not big fights on the world stage of boxing. Green will fight another bum next up, guaranteed.

Other than diehard Roy Jones fans or Jeff Lacy fans (not sure there would be too many of these) i can't imagine many genuine boxing fans would have any interest whatsoever in watching the Jones-Lacy fight. It's totally pointless and Roy will win an easy decision 119-109 or 118-110 or thereabouts. Jeff Lacy is absolute shit these days, he would struggle to beat journeymen.Surely these two are not getting paid too much for the fight because i would have to wonder where the fuck the money would come from to pay them.

Yeah, kind of like RJJ vs Trinidad - that was a farce too...surely RJJ has enough money now?

WTF does he have to keep fighting for? He's gonna end up like his dogfighting buddy McLennan if he doesn't give it up soon.

Best case scenario...Roy all of a sudden wants to get the brand global before he is done, so his legacy is enhanced..and so he can probably travel around collecting better appearance fees for some time.

He has talked about fighting Woods again in England, fighting Beyer in Germany ...and seemed pretty content to fight Joe in the UK if it was necessary.

Worst case...he is your stereotypical nouveau riche rags to riches sportsman..and lets be frank Black sportsman..who as soon as he starts getting the green spends like crazy, gets a massive entourage who he pays for and who has no idea how to manage his finances.
I wouldnt be suprised if he has sunk a shit load of cash into his shitty record label...Ive seen video of his opulence, he owns a whole heap of cars which of cause depreciate like hell.
Maybe he owes a lot of tax...maybe he is totally broke..or maybe he is doing alright but just wants to keep the cheques coming in.

Either way he shouldnt be fighting anymore....he is one of the biggest earners of his generation.

Somewhere...people still want to watch him fight...not as many now...but obviously enough.

I dont know why though.

First of all he was never as good as people thought he was...Second after getting completely humiliated by Calzaghe, he looks mentally scarred.. Lastly having large chunks of time off due to a serious shoulder injury that he probably hasnt fully recovered from really has seen him degrade physically IMO.
He really seems to gas very quickly these days.

There are some who think he has not won a fight since 2005...He has labored to a couple of close (sometimes debatable) decision wins and was well beaten by Joe and Jermain Taylor in that time.

He is probably less shot then Roy...but at the same time he was never as good as Jones was..not even close.

I think Lacy will get rid of jones in 1..Lacy is not that shot is he..??Lacy has looked dreadful in his last couple of fights.
Although he was overrated, he was still a wrecking ball and dangerous, but now he's just utter shit and is very lame and boring to watch.

Going by this comment i would have to assume that you have not seen any of Lacy's bouts since his destruction by Joe Calzaghe. He is now hopeless and has zero chance against a shot Roy Jones imo.

The talk around seems to have a GREEN v ROY JONES JNR fight firming slightly. Green has apparently pulled the pin on a match-up with Taylor.

It may also rely on the results on the upcoming card featuring both GREEN and RJJ falling the right way.

Because the first fight was so competitive, it warrants a rematch

Man that would be very disappointing if he did.

Green won't go near RJJ, even a shell of his former self. He has too many options in Oz before fighting Mandy again. There's Hamden, Taylor, soliman would still be too tricky for him, maybe Tim Bell. One of them will get the nod before he fights someone real.

Bognashavin
06-16-2009, 02:07 AM
Just saying that's what I've heard. . . .Taylor would be a waste of time and too small, Soliman is back to middleweight too, and Bell wouldn't draw the kind of money and attention Green seems to be chasing

I think Green wants Jones. Its like stabbing another pin in Mundines heart by fighting his Idol...

Another thread has said 11am tomorrow. Good on Danny, I was not happy at his retirement or comeback, but this might indicate he's not relying soley on Mundine. Let's hope it's a very motivated Green vs. a well worn RJJ

The only deal that I saw being confirmed was that Greeny would be fighting some Domino's dude on the RJJ/Lacy undercard.

The bollocks that followed it hardly led me to believe that there would be a Green/RJJ fight in Melbourne, and it is certainly no 'done deal:deal' as you had put it.

Danny won't beat an over the hill Jones if this fight comes through. It just proves Green retired to duck Garay plain & simple. What other reason, why would you win the world championship title & try to at least defend it once!

RJJ has turned into a joke anyway ...ive said it many times in this forum , much like Oscar De La Hoya , he fights for the money and come bell time tries not to get hurt . He never looks like winning the fight ..

Look at his fight with Calzaghe..flash knockdown of Joe in 1st and then retreated for the rest of the fight , not throwing any punches.

Even though Lacy has been rubbish since Calzaghe , Taylor fights ..i think he would beat RJJ...from what ive seen from RJJ lately.

Green said something a few days ago that RJJ looked "awesome against Omar Sheika" ...i didnt see the fight ..did he look any good.

even if RJJ loses against Lacy the fight will happen ..what else is out their for Green...Hamden , Taylor , etc.

thier is money in RJJ and also sadly a notch to ppl's career to have a win over RJJ.

Tend to agree with you. But sadly, world titles aren't worth jack sh_t any more. It's all about opponents and paydays. If a title helps you make more $$$ it's a bonus, but otherwise they are a dime a bloody dozen.

Watch how quickly Mundine abandons his IBO title if he has to fight Geale again.

Good post the Yanks realised this early doors now the Brits are following suit to a certain extent , it does no harm having a belt but it ain't the b all and end all it used to be , speaking of Geale i would like to see him challenge Barker for the Commonwealth title a winnable fight for him and having an Aussie v Brit fighting for it would regain some of the prestige associated with this historic title . this Commonwealth Belt should be preseved as it has a great tradition attatched to it imo .
