Give him Props on this thread...

He took out the feared Arvloski and picked up some other guy that was supposed to be good and slammed him around.

Long story short, he was a badass and will always be remembered.

I would like to thank him for making the MMA fans eat a big slice of humble pie. For years these idiots touted their sport as superior and with his help it was proven false by a 50 year old ex boxer.

And he was the greatest heavy in UFC history.......that says a lot.

I mean, not just an okay one, but the GREATEST IN UFC's HISTORY.

And this is not debatable.

All in all, in MMA the rankings for best of all time go like this...

1)Fedor
2)Slyvia

Bingo. Hopefully somebody will now shovel the dirt over this human cockfighting, and its association with boxing, which makes a mockery of one of the best sports ever to grace this planet - BOXING, the sweet science!!!

John Ruiz was a champion in boxing. One could say that he represents what fighting is all about. Does that mean boxing is about holding and boring action?

Or does it mean that in any sport, anyone can take one example out of context and use it improperly?

Anybody can land a punch, neither boxing nor MMA are `superior` to each other, they are just different forms of combat sport.

I could easily say `Kimbo Slice handed Ray Mercer his ass easily providing some proof of the ineffectiveness of boxing in a fight were you are allowed to do more than just punch... & Kimbo is nowhere near the level of the top MMA fighters`

But that shit would be just as bad as all the other nonsense that the haters (boxing AND mma fans) spit out because they feel this need to defend their fav sport... when in actual fact, there is nothing to defend it from because as I said..... 2 DIFFERENT COMBAT SPORTS !

Are you fuckin serious ?

Fedor & Nogueira are far & away the best HWTs that have ever fought in MMA you maniac.
Go watch Nog in his prime, the only man he never bested was Fedor... Nog is way past it now but in 3 fights in their prime, Fedor never stopped him once.

Nogueira is EASILY 2nd to Fedor all time, fuckin hell :rofl

First thing's first: Tim Sylvia is horrendous. He was horrendous when he was champ, he was horrendous before that, he was horrendous last Saturday, and he will continue to be horrendous for the duration of his life no matter what endeavor he embarks upon. Now that we've gotten that out of the way . . .

That does not mean MMA is bullshit or illegitimate even though Sylvia managed to become champion of MMAs' flagship organization, the UFC. It does mean that Sylvia is bullshit and illegitimate. So you're probably asking yourself, "Well, if Sylvia is bullshit and illegitimate, then how the hell did he become UFC champ?" He became UFC champ much the same way that Wlad Klitschko became heavyweight champ despite being a tin man with a total lack of heart (while Tim is a klutz with a total lack of brains). They both managed to outbig their opponents (which is exactly what Brock Lesnar* has been doing during his tenure in the UFC . . . although he has some skills). To outbig one's opponent you need not be skilled in anything except falling out of your mammie's ass correctly and allowing your pituitary gland to operate. Wlad Klitschko was doing a wonderful job of outbigging his opponents until he ran into Corrie Sanders who happened to be just as big as him. This bout had disastrous results for Klitschko and it showed that he is not good, he is just big. Unfortunately there are very few 6'8" 265 lb. fighters in the UFC which is why Sylvia managed to obtain any W's at all. If all of Sylvia's opponents were as big as he was Sylvia would be 0 and infinity. He does absolutely nothing in an outstanding fashion except take steroids and does everything horrendously down to even walking. The man doesn't even possess coordination.

This outbigging thing has really begun to get out of hand in combat sports today. That 60 lb gap is to wide from 205 to 265 in the UFC. You've got guys who are a natural 215 fighting guys who are cutting weight to make 265. It puts them at a clear and distinct disadvantage that allows for shit like the Sylvia career debacle to occur.

The way I see it, I look at a fighter like this. Given the skill level I've come to expect from this individual, if his opponent was exactly the same size as him who would win? And when you find yourself saying the guy opposite Tim Sylvia in virtually every single case that means Tim Sylvia is a fuckin' bum who made a living out of outbigging the opposition. Now that doesn't make him formidable, that just makes him forgettable.

*He would murderlize Sylvia.

Pathetic. Sylvia isn't a top 5 HW in MMA history. Nog is #2. Cro Cop is even ahead of Tim. Timmeh was the champion during a horrible era in the UFC. The top dogs were elsewhere. Don't talk about MMA because you obviously know nothing about it. It'd be best if you didn't talk boxing either.

I agree with what you said about Slyvia, but I think Klitschko is very skilled, especially for a big man, (IE he knows how to fight like a big man), and has the benefit of being in a very weak era where smaller opponents don't know how to use their size to their advantage.

Any event that's only been around for 10 years doesn't have a history.

Zuffa has featured hws for less than ten years, and who really cares what is best on one event anyway.

yup, proving Arlovski was human was huge..showed just how unpredictable and chaotic MMA can be when 2 opponents of similar skill clash up.
