With all the great fights being announced this one seems to be flying under the radar a bit (set for early November), which is a shame, I'm personally anticipating this fight as much Kessler vs Calzaghe, perhaps more.
I like both fighters, though I'd probably like the younger Haye to win so he has a good springboard into heavyweight. I'm still not sure who's going to win though, Haye isn't going to be as strong or Sharp at Cruiser, compared to the Bonin fight at heavy. I also question the stamina of both fighters, but if it's a war of attrition I see Mormeck winning.
If Haye wins he needs to do it early, which will be troublesome since Mormecks defence is tough to penetrate when he goes on the back foot. The edge in chin and experience also goes to Mormeck, Haye has the edge in power, speed and size imo, both guys have very solid skills, Haye outside, Mormeck inside, though Mormeck has an excellent jab when he decides to use it.
How do you guys see the fight playing out?

I expect this to be an absolute barnburner. I wouldn't be surprised the least bit if Mormeck won.

I think that Haye will be OK at Heavy and I think he is a better fighter than Mormeck.
But the weight? He was up at 225 ish and looked CUT last time out, he was 220 at the beginning of the month and had been in training...can he ditch that weight without hurting himself?
Not according to himself. He admits he won't be at his best for this fight...and it's hardly a danger-free assignment.
Depends if Haye can show at close to his best. Going on what I know I guess i'll have to pick Mormeck.

I'm surprised to see a couple of guys picking Haye late, I thought most of the people tipping Haye to win, would have him doing it by stoppage in the early-mid rounds.

I am also likely to pick Mormeck based on the weight.
Best to wait for the weigh in to see what kind of condition Haye is in before comfirming it though.

Here's Hayes' last performance against Bonin, impressive, despite the opponent. He won't be as strong against Jean-Marc, he was around 220 for the Bonin fight and didn't look soft at all.

Can I ask why you think Haye's an arrogant prick? I know he comes across as confident, but he doesn't talk trash about his opponents or anything to make me think him arrogant or, indeed, a prick.
I actually think Haye has the skills advantage; he's capable of throwing all the shots on the inside and the outside.
I'm favouring Haye as he has all the physical advantages but Mormeck can't be discounted here either. He's definitely got the power to worry Haye, but I think he might have to eat the biggest shots he's ever tasted to get close enough to use it.

Outside I agree, but Mormecks' defence suits infighting far better. I also think Haye will be more drained than ever for this fight, so he might not carry huge physical advantages, particularly with strength and stamina.
Mormecks' defence is also very good, when he gets more defensive it's very difficult to penetrate, if Haye lands big punches early and makes Mormeck fights more defensively, there's a big chance he'll be carried into the later rounds where he'll be vulnerable (especially due to the weight).

If Haye lands big punches early on, Mormeck's going to be out cold!
I agree that Mormeck's a better fighter on the inside, but I think that's his only option here. Haye is ok on the inside, throwing nice compact shots for a man of his size and his body punching is great; he can hold his own here. However, if Haye wants to stay at range then he can do that too, using his speed and huge reach to 1-2 Mormeck all night. I can't see Mormeck winnning that kind of fight.
I'm not too sure who this fight will favour if it goes late, Haye is drained at the weight but Mormeck's stamina is nothing to write home about either so I think a late stoppage is possible both ways. Should be a great fight whatever happens.

If Mormeck decides to trade jabs with Haye, I think Haye is in for a shock, Mormeck has one of the best power jabs going, he can certainly use it to push inside against Haye, as well as make Haye think twice about trading jabs, even with Haye having an edge in speed. Mormeck is also a tough, tough guy, check out the Mormeck v Gurov highlights at the start of the thread, and Gurov can certainly crack. Bell only really got him out of there in the first fight due to exhaustion.
Win's possible, but Haye's the underdog for me in this one. I know Mormecks' stamina isn't great, but I honestly think it's better than Hayes' at this weight, and if they start trading and going to war in the middle rounds, I think it's Haye that'll come off second best.

Haye should be a firm favourite but I am very worried about the impact of him losing this weight, this could tip the balance in Mormecks favour and the odds reflect it is pretty much a 50:50 fight

I actually think Haye would win a jabbing war. He has a very stiff jab himself (see the first he landed against Bonin for evidence) along with the reach and speed advantages. Mormeck may be able to jab his way in but equally, Haye might be able to keep him on the outside.
Gurov certainly can crack but I honestly believe Haye is the biggest hitter in the division and by extension, the biggest hitter Mormeck's ever faced. Mormeck's power on the other hand is good, but I don't think he's stopping Haye with a single shot; Gurov went 8 and he's far chinnier than Haye.
There's so many reasons I'm so excited and nervous for this fight. Haye has the edge in power, but can he crack Mormeck's chin? Mormeck's stamina is questionable but we don't know how much Haye's lost by killing himself to make 200 etc. Could easily be FOTY.

Even if Haye loses it's not the end of the world, a lot of people will probably give him a fair bit of leeway since they feel he doesn't belong at cruiser anymore.

Mormeck looked troubled by Gurov and we know what Haye did to him. But It's the height and reach of Gurov that was giving him some success out boxing Mormeck.
If Lesser fighters like Bell and Gurov don't find It hard to land on Mormeck then I think Haye can win as long as the weight doesn;t affect him too much.

I don't really think that's a strong argument, otherwise people are going to bring up Carl Thompson and the various fighter that've found Haye since his defence is leaky at times. Gurov never really got into the fight against Haye, so it's not really a great comparison either, all you can really say is that Haye looks the bigger puncher, and not many people disagree with that point anyway.

Haven't seen much of Haye, but Mormeck has a tonne of flaws. The cruiserweight division is still fairly weak at the moment IMO. Mormeck puts his head down way too often, and doesn't put combinations together well. IMO a poor mans Jeff Lacy, with good power, but less stamina, slower feet, slower hands and a few technical flaws.
