So, um, I guess fighters shouldn't attempt takedowns anymore. Maynard knocked himself out cold with one, and Manny just popped his shoulder out of the socket.

Manny hurt himself and tapped, so Nate Diaz won. The BJ Penn and Pulver fight should be starting in about 10 minutes or less.

BJ Penn just chocked out Pulver. Penn looked darn good. The guy is just soo talented, and when he actually trains, he's unstoppable. Every fight Penn has lost...he lost himself. When he wants to be, he can be better than any fighter at 170 or below in the world.

Penn looked pretty much unstoppable in taking out Jens, I must say I was impressed with BJ (funny how many times have I said that through out the years)

classic penn! he held the choke a couple seconds longer but hey

Cool to see them after the fight, too. I still don't get why Penn wants to go back to 170 because he could make Sean Sherk cry at 155.

It would have been hilarious if prior to the fight, Penn wrote on his website, "Beating Pulver felt great." That would be cocky...yet hilarious.

Lol he did as well. Pulver musta been tapping for about 6-7 seconds. I'm glad Penn won. When he trains properly he really is in a different league from Pulver. He never should have lost the first match and maybe that's why getting revenge has consumed him for so long.

I was sort of disappointed in Pulver. Even when he had the opportunity to throw his punches (which used to be fast, accurate combos) he looked tentative and sluggish. He also looked scared to death when he came out of the dressing room. I was really hoping he'd win or at least show that he was at the top of the heap and his loss to Lauzon was a total fluke. He looked sort of shot last night, even with his decent defense on the ground. Too bad. His style was great to watch.

GSP and Matt Hughes why else :happy
Yup :yep Penn vs GSP II is the best fight out there right now.....but one of them has to snatch up the belt first. Penn taps out Hughes in the rubber match, and it will be a one-sided fight too. He is just way too complete for Hughes. GSP might beat him again though.

Prime pulver vs prime penn = pulver won

Past it pulver vs good penn = penn win

Penn looked good but he always flatters to decieve. Good fight though.

Manny way very unfortuate, very good card overall i thought.

Yeah, Manny was winning for sure. In all three of Diaz's last three fights he seemed to be a one trick pony. Try this submission, try that one, try this other one...all while getting overpowered. I know that's the point of Jujitsu, but damn, he just looks SO WEAK compared to the other guys. He really needs some meat on his bones because when he fights a guy who is stronger than him (which looks like pretty much every other fighter out there) who also knows submissions and how to avoid them (like Manny was, or like Maynard will in a year or two) he'll just get held down and beat on.

Too bad Pulver is past it. I like how he used to fight.

The first with Pulver, Penn was nowhere near his prime, he was only 23 and it was only his 4th MMA fight.
Penn is in his prime NOW.

Please sir. Give some examples as to how Pulver has declined. :good His punches looked just as quick. His ground defense was good. He said he trained for this fight like none other. :huh :huh :huh :huh He's not old. Hasn't really sustained any bad beatings. :huh :huh :huh :huh :huh PAST IT?????

Pulver is not past his best by any means. In reality the sport is passing him by just as it has many guys who had success a few years ago. The sport evolves so fast, that unless you evolve with it your reign is going to be very short.

Jesus fucking christ!!! are we really gonna do this???? Do you honestly think Jens Pulver is "past his prime"? Why? :patsch

I knew Pulver would lose as soon as I saw BJ dominating the stand up. I was impressed with Pulvers defence when BJ had him on the mount, but ultimately, Pulver had to many cards stacked against him. He was too small for Penn, he was older and BJ was just a better fighter at that point in both fighters careers. Bring on Parisyan Vs. Penn, now Id like to see that.

He has suffered 3 pretty bad KO's, things like that can fuck with a guys mind. I have faith in him though.

i think people just have to remember with pulver is the people hes lost to before his second fight with penn were no joke, he lost to sakurai, gomi and louzon, those are all legitimate A level fighters in the 155lb. division, i know louzon hasnt really been heard of but hese 14-3 thats a good record for mma and hes looked solid everytime ive seen him fight

Oh theres no doubt he lost to the best, but he still got hurt prety badly, especially against Mach and Gomi, who are both 20-30lbs bigger than him naturally. But again, BJ is just that good, I don't think it mattered what Penn would have been in there that night, but Jens has been damaged a bit as a fighter.

Why? :patschPulver is past his prime. This guy has been in the sport for a while and has won and lost against some of the best lightweights in MMA. Pulver has great hands and his take down defense isnt that bad either but when i saw him against Lauzon he lost a step badly.

oh dont get me wrong, i was just trying to show how good of a fighter pulver still is and that hes actually a bit underrated and the way bj handled him is a testament to just how good bj really is, in my opinion bj pretty much more or less has no business what so ever losing to anyone fighting at 170 or lower

just watched the finale show last night.....obsevations......pulver was classy in defeat, bj is an amazing mma fighter....regarless if gray was ko, emerson tapped.....gray shoulda won the fight...he was winning it handily anyhow.....and what a shame for manny....diaz should make his first fight a rematch with the pocket pit bull, and he will get his ass kicked...again......

BJ was clearly winning the fight, but Pulver was pullin his own. If the fight went further BJ could have gassed, as he has in some of his other fights, and who knows. That could have been part of Pulvers strategy to weather the early storm and come on late.....just my 2 cents.

If Hughes can win the belt out cold against Newton then Maynard should of won a non-title match being out.
