Looks pretty good, have mexicans decided if you cant beat them join them and fight southpaw? Nice record too and keeps busy. He needs to get in with a Bailey or Augustus level fighter

going by his size and age, i´d tell the guys at welter to watch out.
that stoppage win over durable clottey looks real good. then again, there is a lot of comp at welter and i guess he still has some proving to do.
i´d like to see him in with someone like cornelius bundrage or miguel angel rodriguez before calling him the real deal.
but so far so good.

they already said that his next fight should be against a really tough opponent.....clottey is a tough son of a bitch, but someone more recognized......

Victor Ortiz was stopped in two rounds by a 16 year old Amir Khan prompting the Americans to almost beg Khan to represent USA at the Olympics as at the time it seemed Britain wouldn't let him compete as he was under 18.
Ortiz was known in British Amateur boxing circles to be very very good. This is not to put down Ortiz but to re-emphasize just how good Amir Khan is

and Amir Khan in the PROS almost got KTFO by what we call in America, a fighter who built his record fighting tomato cans - Willie Limond. Not putting down Khan, just pointing out how different pro's and amateurs are.

In boxing 'almost' isn't good enough!!:D Khan stopped him in the next round
Limond was 28-1 and the Commonwealth Champion. Ok, he wasn't world class, but a decent solid opponent for Khan, who is still not yet 20. Yes, there are differences between Ams and pros and Khan is still learning, but he's a massive talent and was courted by Universum, Arum, and DeLa Hoya before he turned pro. Those guys don't offer mega bucks to just anyone half decent

Khan has a wet paper chin. From that video there, I'd epect Ortiz to knock him out within 3.
Hopefully Khan's chin will improve, but if they fought now, it wouldn't stand up.

On what basis would you think Ortiz would whoop Khan when Khan has already destroyed Ortiz in two rounds a couple of years ago? Ortiz sounds pretty good, but Khan is on a different level and the best 20year old prospect in world boxing.

Cause Kahn was made for the amatuers and Ortiz is made for the pros. And Ortiz's chin has became alot more solid then Kahn's.
Ortiz would be WAY to strong for Kahn.

Well I haven't seen any Ortiz pro fights so it's difficult for me to comment, although I suspect you haven't seen many Khan fights either. By the way, don't believe this nonense about Khan having a glass jaw. It's a complete myth which has gained 'legs' due to frequent repetition on sites like this one. He's a boxer. He gets hit. Most will go down several times during their career, unless they are fortunate enough to be one of the few who has a jaw of granite. Khan will probably be no different. In December Khan will be old enough to fight for the British title. he's still a kid, not a seasoned old hand

i've seen about 4 of khan's fights....he does seem ammeaturish....ortiz is like a young version of panchito bojado mixed with vargas....and anybody that knows boxing knows that, thats a dangerous combination...especially when you got a good head on your shoulders like ortiz.....

Khan impressed me last time out, getting off the canvas to finnish Limmond. With all the hype boxing fans cant help but want Khan to get chinned but I do like the lad and he has great skills that still haven't be honed to the pro game.
Amateur and Pro boxing are different, Ortiz looks more profesional to me and may beat Khan now. Both are BIG prospects and it maybe a big fight in the future

I'm sure Ortiz would welcome the chance of revenge.
Of course Ams and Pros are different, but the basic idea is still to hit your opponent and not get hit in return. Most world class amateurs go on to successful pro careers. There appears to be an odd trend to automatically assume a world class amateur will fail as a pro. Some will fail, but most will not

BUT getting dropped in the first place by a guy like Limmond who only had 8 KO's in 28 wins(against shit fighters) isn't a good sign at all. Or getting dropped by a fighter who's record was 10-3 (0 none KO's). And even his team suspect him to be chinny and his next opponent is 20-3 (4KO's).
