Both fighters had very short stops at 135. Oscar never came close to losing there but Floyd beat Castillo which was probally better than anyone Oscar fought there. It is close but I would give the slight nod to Mayweather if anyone.

DLH also had 6 title defenses at LW and unified the WBO and IBF belts by beating the #2 rated fighter in the division according to Ring, the 43-1 Ruelas. (DLH was #1, Gonzalez was previously but had vacated the division.....he would later lose to DLH at 140)

Ah, thanks for pointing that out, but I would definately rate Castillo higher than Ruelas. DLH didn't really have signature wins at 135. I believe his fight with Hernandez, which may have been his biggest win until Whitaker was at superfeather.

DLH was a huge lightweight, and he carried it well. I'd honestly say DLH would be a tough fight for anyone there.

Nope, he beat Hernandez at LW and Leija there as well.

I would rate Castillo higher than them. But what about the other fights PBF had there? Remember, Castillo lost alot as well for a top tier fighter.

Tough to call.

Both guys only faced one world class lightweight during their times there (no, Jorge Paez was not a world class LW). Mayweather struggled more with his world class lightweight, but Castillo was a better fighter than Rafael Ruelas.

DLH beat some very good junior lightweights during his time at 135, and he'd rank higher all-time at the weight class.

But in terms of better, head-to-head? Probably I'd go with Mayweather. Let's not forget the experience factor. By the time Mayweather reached lightweight, he had been a world champ fighting world class competition for 3 and a half years. 1995 was DLH's breakout year, and he left 135 by the time the year ended.

Head-to-head, Mayweather has the edge in the lower weight classes. DLH has the edge in the higher weight classes. And when we're talking 154, I'm thinking more of Oscar at 154 in terms of 2001-03, not the part-time fighter who fought Mayweather a few months ago.

I think Mayweather would have won a head to head match up. However De La Hoya in my opinion had a better record at 135.

I was just mentioning as a reminder, yo know, people may think Floyd beat Oscar at 154 therefore it's fair to say that at 135... I really don't know, bro, Chicanito Hernandez fought Oscar at 135 pounds in Sept. 1996 and Mayweather at 130 pounds in Oct. 1998 ( which is the same to 135 let's face it) and said in "The Ring" that Floyd would beat Oscar at 154 and weight classes don't mean anything, they always adapt so I'll make Hernandez words my own for the fiction confrontation at 135 pounds at both fighters prime too. Paradoxically, I state that Oscar was the best LW. Thank you.
