I just wanted to make this thread because i been a Jason Booth fan since i was a kid when him and Nicky were Champions and on Sky and they used to headline bills together and i always loved watching him box.

He's not only a great character and story but a great domestic technician and a joy to watch. Seeing that performance tonight and the Moran performance this guy has shown that Skills win fights not Size and i hope that any young lads watching will learn from this guy because some of his defense and footwork and all round boxing is fantastic to see especially from a man who was in a hospital bed and never thought he fight again.

He's provided some fantastic fights over the last 10 years and his work rate considering being late and in sweltering heat was credit to this guys drive and want.

Where does Booths career go from here? Hunter? Munroe? Back Down to Fight Napa? Your thoughts and your thoughts on this great domestic technician.

Great little fighter, one of the most underrated/under-appreciated in Britain. Not only is he classy boxer, he also seems to be a genuine nice guy as well and it's impossible not to like him.
Would like to see a rubber match with Napa as I think he takes that one, and when in form I think he has the beating of Munroe too.

Booth is one hell of a fighter, deserves a world title shot if he beats Hunter but maybe down at bantam or even super fly

Got to admire the way he's got his career back on track after a serious drink problem and now seems to be boxing better than ever......maybe theres hope for me yet??

......maybe theres hope for me yet??

:rofl:rofl....er....probably not :D. I always got the impression that you liked the birds and beer too much, a bit of a poser :hey

Booth has got one hell of an engine, he wins fights on work rate alone, never mind his technical skills which are very good indeed. Its a bit of a shame that he just seems to lack a little in the power department because a decent punch would take him to the next level.

Really enjoyed his performance last night, very skillful. He may have enough to win a world title but he's fallen short at higher levels in the past. It's a shame he doesn't have KO power because he has everything else.

The guy is so underrated, he is a hell of a fighter perod. He has so much variety and his movement in finding angles is fantastic. His style is a great blueprint for young fighter coming up. A Real talent.
I also give him credit for turning his life around after going through some real bad times. That takes balls.

Good, if surprising news that Maloney will be lobbying for Booth at the WBC convention later this year...

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Luckily for Booth, he can seemingly make any weight from Light Flyweight to Heavyweight:tong, so there may well be an opportunity for him. It would be well deserved and make a great story.

I've always wondered what goes on at these WBC conventions. I've got this image in my head similar to that Simpsons episode where Apu and Homer go to the Kwik-e-Mart headquarters in the Himalayas to go and get his job back. Instead of some Indian god, Sulaiman sits on a big chair while promoters like Hennessy and Maloney come in bearing gifts and have 30 seconds to convince him to give their guy a title shot:nut

Anyway well done to Booth and if he gets a world title opportunity then that is one hell of an achievement.

I agree one of the great domestic fighters....

I don't think a world title is the way to go. I know he's paid his dues at domestic level, but if he can't beat the best in Europe I wouldn't like to see him in with the best. He could get hammered, that wouldn't be nice to see.

There ain't many soft touches at BW/SBW, its too tough an ask at this point.

If he can get back down to the lower weights again there is no way he will get hammered. Lets be fair he lost but didn't get hammered in his Euro title shots. He is more focused, seasoned and mature now anyway.

I'm really annoyed because my Sky Plus didn't record this due to a signal problem.

I'm really annoyed because my Sky Plus didn't record this due to a signal problem.

I had that problem with the Klitchko Chagaev fight the other week - thank God really.

Although I really do rate Booth as a quality fighter i couldn't see him being competitive at world level. Wouldn't mind him seeing him against some decent overseas opposition - some Mexicans especially - but that never seems to happen anymore and it's more likely that he'll be fed Afrobums

:bump

So Made this thread and good while back. Was hoping to bump it after a glorious night for ''2 Smooth'' but sadly wasn't meant to be. I'm typing quite choked tbh. As i said in other threads i grew up watching Jason and Nicky. I never thought i see the day he fight for world title after he left the sport. I remember the days at the Harvey Hadden him and his bro tearing it up. He had near misses in EBU title fights. When he came back i could not foresee a night like tonight.

When i saw Booth making his ''resurrection'' all i could hope for was maybe a EBU title shot. Jason shows no fear out of ring or in it, he stepped up and took on men bigger then himself and Frank Maloney handed him a title shot that read like a rocky story, I'm gutted as i right this but i know in time i can accept that Molitor may of walked away with the belt but Jason was the true winner.

I couldn't believe the start, i thought the dream was coming true, But as the fight wore on Jason wore down and the fight started to slip away. I was so stressed shouting at him through tv to move and use his feet but you could see the bodyshot's were taking it's toll. Wanted him to do it so badly...but i know now that's not how the story was meant to end. Every day Jason's winning his real fight.

Having now cooled off i just wanna give credit to a man who really does have a sob story. None of that HBO crap. This is a real guy who's had a real life.

Jason's always had world class ability and in my heart will always be one of my favorite fighters. The genuine nice guy who has heart size of the world. I wish him all best if he decides that he can't get any better then tonight. He put on fantastic display and showed he could fight at world class level and he ain't boring either :bbb:lol:.

I thought i bump so that people can add there views on ''2 Smooth''. I hope he won some fans tonight and over last 2 years :happy

Embarrassed me live on Sky a long time ago! Skills to burn and to have come back from the life he was living, and to challenge for a genuine world title shows what the man is made of.
Proud to have shared a ring with him and am so pleased he's got his life back on track.

Nice Touch Dave :good

Funnily enough posted your fight with him in the RBR tonight .

As you say the main thing that he changed his life, the title may not be with him but you could see he just happy to be back doing what he loves and tonight back home with his children.

Boxing can be such a beautiful thing. :happy

Have to give credit to booth in the first 4 rounds looked like he might have enough to outwork molitor but the bodyshots took their toll.

He proved he belongs at that level i don't know if he will get another shot maybe against Rendall if he wins? Would like to see him get Rendalls old euro belt and get a few defences of that put some money in the bank. God knows he has earnt that at least

Everyone knows I'm a big Jason Booth fan and have admired him for the last few years.

he did'nt do him self no ill last night, where he proved he could stand among the champions with a brilliant boxing display with Steve Moliter. Moliter is thought to be THE most skilled super-Bantam champ at the moment and Jason hung with him in the skills department and just lost because of the strength of Moliter IMO. Although the fight could have went either way IMO.

I'm proud to say I'm a Jason Booth fan.

I was down last night but on reflection Booth did very well. Molitor is not brilliant by any means but is much more experienced at mixing in World Class and Booth did enough to win the first four rounds and earn a draw on my card.

I don't think he'd find the 118lbers as strong, although it's full of top level competitors. I think Booth could do some good work down there, bar the Euro route now there's not much else he could go for at 122 IMO, a fight with Poonsewat isn't logical, might he wait for Munroe (and could it even be made?) ?

Booth is a class operator though, cemented his reputation last night IMO by being so competitive with a World Class fighter.

He seems to not have much in the way of legs at this stage of his career, but he's got a huge heart and is pretty strong for his size. He may have a hurrah or two left. :bbb

Less and less fighters like him now, as the numbers dwindle and fighters give up easier. Sadly it won't be long before fighters with his love for the game, mentality, skills and decency are very thin on the ground :-(

Right im on my soap box now. Jim Watt is a fucking prick.... Round 11 scored that fight to jason booth 10-9, now fuck off, more like a even round, theres a pattern with Watt that he always blindlessly backs his man if he has bigged him up before the fight im fed up with listening to that Scottish prick, Sky should get rid of him like the other Scottish prick Andy Gray.

both fighters were bloody great for three weeks notice , booth had a bit of working out to for the 3/4 rounds but the man is amazing ,he digs in and finds a way to win even if he never wins a world tittle will always be thought as a champ

truly great european level fighter is booth, starting to look a slight bit shot tonight but he still has the heart of a lion! in a rematch he will completely outbox arthur, i had it 116-112 booth, very good pro, if it wasn't for alcahol he would be a world champion imo.

I was privalidged to be at the fight tonight superb!!!

Maloney should be ashamed of the opposition he supplied for Price and Dallas.

I'm sure I saw the one who Dallas faught take a dive against another prospect, absolutely disgraceful and they learn nothing from that!!!

Was stood next to Dallas and he is f-ing massive.

Also had a long chat with Big John McDermott who seemed to know nothing about Larry-O. John was a top chap to talk to though I was pretty shocked by how small he is!!!
