A truly great fighter, who won multiple titles, when there were less to win, and yet still he never rushed up to another weight and successfully defended them all.

Those who perhaps were too young to see him fight could do worse than watch his first match up with Aaron Pryor, in arguably the fight of the 1980s.

A man who's fighting spirit was also shown in his affection for his country of birth.

A very sad day for Boxing and even sadder for the people of Nicaragua and his family.

He was some fighter, thats for sure. I watched his fight with Jim Watt recently, & Arguello fuckin spanked the great scot if the truth be told.

& thats coming from the man who watched a young Watt takin on arguably a prime Buchanan, & I thought Watt did enough to beat Buchanan. From a scottish perspective, that tells you how great I thought Arguello was.

Good article which goes into great depth about what a naturally nice guy Arguello was. His conversation with Mancini after their fight is one of the most genuinely heart-warming things I've seen in a boxing ring.

Lost an ATG human being as well as ATG fighter.
