Saw one of these yesterday for £30, I haven't got the time or £ to join a gym so one of these would be great for me, if they are any good.

Does anyone have one?

How good are they?

you in england? cus I saw one of these in asda and i thought the same thing. good thing about the one I saw is that you don't have to screw it on to your door, it sort of attaches it self. thinking of getting it on w.e.

I've got one of these:

It's hard for me to explain how it stays up without having to screw it in but it's pretty secure. It stays up on the door on its own and when you're actually hanging off it, it uses your own body weight to further secure its grip on the door frame. It's a great little exercise gadget to have in the house, it's not big, you could leave it hanging on the doorway indefinitely.

When I saw the advert for it I thought it looked great, but then I just had thoughts of me doing pull ups with it swinging everywhere and me falling. I might get one of them, cheers :D

To be honest I totally didn't get how it hangs in the doorway without needing any screws until I got it, assembled it, and then it still didn't click in my brain right up until I actually physically put it up on the doorway and it stayed up.

And even then, it still took a leap of faith for me to hang my entire body weight on it the first couple of times, haha. But it's all good!

Hang on, I'll take a couple of pics of mine.

Alright, here's the front where you hang on it, see where the bar sits on the door frame:

Here's the back where it sits on to the top of the doorway:

Can you see how it uses your own body weight to secure itself door frame? When you're hanging on the bar at the front, the bar sits securely on to the door frame while at the back, the wood bar on top of the door frame holds on to the wall above the door.

So can you see, the more weight you put on the bar, the more secure it holds on to the door frame?

I got my girlfriend to hang off it so you can see where the weight goes on to the door frame.

How many different grip positions does it have for push-ups and pull-ups?

The one I've got up there, you could grip it any which way you want, regardless if it's on the padded area or not - palms in, palms out, side grips, wide grip, short grips.

Even though there are pics, I still dont have faith that it would hold me, the door frame will snap, I refuse to believe, I will have to get one though.

I completely understand your concerns because like I said it took a leap of faith for me to put my entire body weight on it the first few times. I weigh about 80kg at the moment, it holds me fine.

Before you buy it, make sure it fits the width of your doorway if the one you get isn't adjustable.

I purchased one about a month ago.

I really only use it for pull-ups but I love having it since I just leave it up in the doorway of my bathroom. Anytime I have to use the bathroom, knock out some pull-ups and go on my way. You can do that throughout the day or if you got some time, do a short stint of 3-5 sets. It has multiple grips on it so you can target different muscle groups.

I saw someone was asking what kind of grips for pull-ups and there are a lot of variations you can do. You can do the standard over-hand to build you upper back, under-hand will target the biceps. If you use the handles sticking out, I find that burns more through my deltoid and you can get a decent rear deltoid work-out with that. Using your imagination, you can switch up or make variations of the grips with the simple piece of equipment.

My chief complain about it though is that it isn't wide enough like using a real pull-up bar. If you want to thicken up your lats and really make them strong, wider the better is what worked for me.

I have you actually tried doing the push-ups and sit-ups?

If you have was it any good?

The one I have even says it works as a dip station for tri's but when I tried to use it(and I'm a Lightweight too), there wasn't enough room to do the full extensions.

As for push-ups, I'd imagine its not a huge difference from doing them as you normally would but it does take away the full range of motion and it only targets one head of the chest's tri-head makeup.

Sit-ups I don't think is even possible with the one I have is it certainly wouldn't be able to hold me in place.

*For all you guys worried about ripping the doorway down from when you use it*

I haven't had anyone over 195 lbs doing pull-ups on the same bar but even when I'm using the tool, I feel like its pulling on the doorframe from my own weight. I checked the backside of the frame through and it doesn't feel any of it has moved or shifted out of place with all the use I've been getting out of it. It comes with a warning that limits its users up to 400 lbs but I wonder if that weight was found just when it snaps in half :happy

If you're worried about it taking your weight, bang an extra 4-5 nails in the top piece of architrave. Or do a proper job, take the top piece off and screw and rawplug it.
