View Full Version : Will Taylor run for 12 rounds from Pavlik?

Cause he sure as hell wont trade with him and I dont think he will outbox him,
I've just finished watching a few fights of Pavlik and I've come to a conclusion.
OK, the concensus here was that Pavlik was somehow sloppy and slow, he looks slow and sloppy at times,
However he is EXTREMELY accurate with his punches and find his targets from every angles he throw and not like many beleives, he is always in balance when landing those bombs,
Taylor on the other hand is faster, has better footwork but cant outbox Pavlik for 12 rounds and we no the Ghost as some serious power in his right hand and his left hook(in both hands but those 2 are his best shots)
I dont think Taylor will win this one, I think he will definatly have moments since hes more skilled then the likes of Miranda but he wont be able to discourage Kelly.
Pavlik will be all over him for the lenght of the fight wich I dont think will go 12 rounds,
Late TKO for kelly is the most likebale scenario for me.
Easy decision for taylor, because pavlik will get frustrated with taylor's jab and that will be the key to this fight, taylor's jab and movement will give pavlik hell, taylor will win a ud,i got money on it.

Will Taylor run for 12 rounds from Pavlik?
Only if he is smart.

yup couldnt agree more with you, Taylor will jab and circl around the ring effectively. Land one two's on Pavlik all night. Pavlik is very easy to hit. I dont think that Taylor will mis him much the whole night. I think Taylor is going to stop him by round 7

Very likely scenario when you have average punching power like Taylor.

I would be very very shocked if Taylor was to stop pavlik especially that early. taylor's power has been non existent latley and he is taking on a guy with a very sturdy chin.

Ight we will see. When ya boy gets frstrated from getting popped in the mouth with a jab all night we are going to see. After the jab then the 1,2's will come. And then by 7 he will b ready 2 go

Taylor running? I think not, after that booing debacle with Stinks. This time, he will try to engage just to regain some lost respectability. Engaging however will be his undoing, as Pav will catch him with accurate bombs, resulting in a 9th rd. KO.

don't think he got the balls to do it. some boxers dont give a f what the fans think. look at mayweather, he didn't change one bit, and he'd probably run all night against the smaller hatton.

Even if Taylor loses it won't be from running. Has he ever run? NO!

Pavlick is made to order for Taylor, not enough movement to get away from Jermains jab.Once Taylor establishes the jab, Kelly is off balance and can't get leverage.Kelly starts to turn beet red, and then his face busts up as the fight goes on.Taylor tko 11.

I don't think he will run but he will be backing up all night. I noticed him doing this against Ouma who is a guy that keeps coming forward and throwing punches all night.
Taylor claims he is going to stand in there and go toe to toe with Pavlik. If he does (which I doubt), Pavlik's power will back him up. And as far as Taylor's jab, he's not going to all of the sudden start using it again, it's gone from his arsenal. Pavlik by round 2 if Taylor stands in with him, and Pavlik by round 8 if Taylor's careful.

Ouma intimitaded him! If you watch that fight, you can actually see that the Jermain in the second half of that fight was not as high-spirited as the begining. Because Oumas punching had an effect. Pavlik just needs to put pressure from the begining, take whatever sissy punches jermain throws, keep hittin him..yada yada yada jermains will start to lose his legs and if he wsnt running already, he will be by the end of the night, well his night lol.
To the guy who said Jermain never a day in his life, I hope you mean outside the ring because I distinctly remember him turning his back in the hopkins fight and sprinting the other way.

No he wont run from Pavlik, even if hes taking massive shots, he still wont run, thats not the type of fighter Taylor is. He may try to box and circle him, but he wont run.

What?
When did Taylor ever run?
Taylor will probably take him to school though, but he never ran from nobody, and I don't think he will even think of running from Pavlik.
Actually, Pavlik brings something new to Taylor, he's not holding(hopkins) or running(spinks). I think this will be a great war, somewhat a classic, remember THE FEW good scenes from B-hops vs. Taylor.... that's what it will look like, but for the whole fight. Taylor by late TKO or UD.

Exactly. There is pressure on Taylor to actually FIGHT for once, and this will indeed prove his undoing, as he doesn't take the greatest shot - which is why he's been fighting light-hitters moving up from lower weight classes.
I think Pavlik gets him earlier than nine, though - only if Taylor runs like the OP suggested does he last that long. One way or another, Pavlik will get him. No gift decisions THIS time!!:-(

No, he won't run. He will box Pavliks ears off using his speed and combinations. Pavlik will be much easier to hit compared to Winky, Hops or Spinks. Kelly will have his moments but I think Taylor will win a clear UD.

your right pavlik is easy to hit, but so is jermaine and pavlik is a HUGE puncher.

Did anyone forget what Kassim Ouma did to Jermain? Ouma is a 154lb fighter who was making Jermain step back for more than half the fight. Pavlik is much bigger than Ouma and hits a ton harder than him as well.

If Taylor was fighting Miranda and that upprecut that made Pavlik's nose
bleed, I hate to tell you, it would have been all over for Taylor, that shot
would have put any other middleweight out.

this is a HUGE fight. white vs. black. brawler vs. boxer.
i think kelly is the smarter fighter and will try to pressure jarmaine into an uncomfrtable zone, making jermaine's skill useless. however jermaine is a powerful, and explosive puncher who may be able to keep kelly at bay with the jab. if he does this effectively then it will be a smooth decision for taylor. depends on which taylor shows up.

what fight were you watching. even manny was pleading with him.
Oh yeah Manny was pleading with him to let go of his hands . . . but he can't because Spinks is no where to be found. He hit and run . . . do you understand the scenario?
Taylor doesn't want to do that . . . because he'll look pretty bad missing a lot of punches making wild swings in the air.
Learn buddy and understand what you're saying. If it was Taylor who refused to exchange it will be Taylor running away from Spinks. :yep

These bafooms dont realize the fact that spinks was a moving target for 12 rounds of that fight...he was circling taylor from ding to the dong of the bell. Spinks was on extreme run mode...lol And for Taylor running from Pavlik..Taylor does not have a running style and he does not have the balance, stamina etc etc to run..he will box...but Pavlik has his # and the way taylor has that bad posture and hunches over AND KEEPING THAT GOD DAMNED LEFT HAND BY HIS WAIST LIKE HE IS GOING TO DRAW A GUN. Thats the one and only reason I am not a Taylor fan ...that shit drives me crazy...like he got one hand in his pocket..lol Anyway..Pavlik is pretty damned accurate with that overhand right..he will catch Taylor. I will be at this fighting rooting for him..but Taylor is losing this one... :blood

Taylor does not have good movement??? In spurts..but his jab is not enough to keep pavlik off. And pavlik has the reach and the str8 right hand to throw over Taylors jab if he gets jab happy. Taylor can throw double and triple jabs but Pavlik is a guy that can counter it even though he is slow as all crap on his feet. Thats what I see happening...

yeah ur right, pavlik look sloppy and slow but his punches especialy the right hand over the jab are devastating and very accurate, his left hook is realys trong too, if it was the taylor of 2004, I would have said he would have a strong chance cause in that time he let his hands go and used his jab effectivly, now he turned into a weird fighter

Well if he was too gassed to kick oumas after four rounds(I had ouma actually winning) then I dont know why you are trying to defend him. cuz that aint champion ship material to me. In my opinion, its ludacris to say that oumas punches had no effect. This just in, getting hit wears you down, you dont have to get rocked!
When Taylor gets hit at somepoint, enough for him to be rocked, for his sake i hope runs, but if what you are saying is true, goodnight paper champ!
